I just entered the Sport Relief (6) Mile.

This will be my first ever run with a number pinned to me.

I'm already regretting it Grin

Don't! If you don't feel ready, it will motivate you to train. If you do feel ready, it will motivate you to do your best. Have a fab time!

I'm doing it too! Did the three mile last time and have done 2 x 10k since so done a big more but still end up wondering 'why am I doing this?!'

It's great to have something to work towards though. I'm sure you'll be fine and plenty of time to train!

Thank you both!
I have covered the distance before, so I know I'm physically capable, it's just kind of exciting/nerve wracking Grin

I've signed up for the six mile too, and I'm quite nervous! I've mainly been running inside on a treadmill all winter, and really need to get back outside to train and build up my distance.

I think it's brilliant that they have so many places to do it, makes it really accessible!
Are you going to start training outside in this weather?!

We're doing the 1 mile as a family. Both the DDs are very excited although I suspect DD2 will be carried for most of it as she will have just turned 3. DD1 (5yo) is pestering me to buy her some pink running tights.

That's lovely Eau, my DP hates running so I'm having to go it alone. Maybe in the future though!
I love your DDs priorities Wink

I've signed up for the Swimathon - I'm doing 100 lengths. The most I've done so far is 80, so not far to go - I'm more concerned about getting enough sponsorship!

Well done knock! I'm sure you'll do fab, but I know what you mean about the sponsorship. I only chose £100 for fear of not making it Smile

Yay well done! Entered DD(9) and me - her for 1 and me for 3, I'm a wimp I know but had several months off running this winter. Last time I actually did 4, was running with a friend who was doing 6 and the course here is laid out in a convenient loop. This time I suspect I'll be able to do 4 again because of taking the first one nice and easy

I am doing the 5k Swimathon (200 lengths) and DD (9) will be swimming 1.5k (60 lengths)

Wow Dizzy, that's amazing! 200 lengths would take me hours - I put down my speed as 'Slow' Grin

My dd 8 wants me to enter her in the swimathon. She has previously swam 2000 metres in 1 hour 10 mins with her swimming club so I am thinking of entering her for the 1.5 km 60 lengths but I don't know how long you are given to swim?

dizzyday07 · 25/02/2014 13:00

Holidayseeker The sessions are usually 2 hours long so she should have plenty of time even with a few stops.

DD and I did a team 1.5k last year with her doing 40 of the lengths and she could have finished it herself given half a chance!

I'm so impressed with all you swimmers (esp little ones!), I find swimming simply too difficult.
So more respect to you, how's the sponsorship going?

Thanks dizzy, if it's 2 hours allowing for breaks then she will definitely be able to do it. I mentioned her teaming up with dh but she wants to do it on her own.

Good luck to you and your dd.

Thursday I know I couldn't swim as far as some of these swimmers. I already struggle to even keep up with my dd.

Hahaha Blue, what gave me away? Wink
Running wise, I think I'm ok - 6 miles under my belt today and my first park run tomorrow.
I need to be a bit more forceful guilt tripping people into sponsoring me!

Less than 48 hours to go!
How are all the keen swimmers feeling?

DD swam tonight. 1.5k in 40 mins. Not bad for a 9 year old!

My 5k swim is on Sunday morning

There's no way I could swim even a little bit of that!
Good luck to you too Grin
