Shredding whilst pregnant

Have just found out, so I'm only 4/5 weeks gone. I normally shred 4/5 times a week. Can I continue? I guess it would be the abs stuff that would be the main issue. Or am I worrying over nothing at this early stage?

Thank you Smile

also jumping/high impact of any kind.

you are safe to carry on with most sports up to 12 weeks as baby is tiny (only 4 cms at end of 1st trimester) and well padded.

but another problem is your ligaments softening and getting tender.

not to mention exhaustion and morning sickness/vomiting.

so I suggest to carry on as long as it feels ok, but please don't push yourself - if you are tired, sick, uncomfortable or in pain being pg is the time to step back.
You could injure yourself and could suffer from back pain, PSD and so on.

Congrats Thanks and please take it easy, your body is going through enormous changes, listen to it!

I did exercise similar to shred up to about 6 months, but my bump was quite small (baby wasn't- I had a 9 pounder!) so I felt confident with balance and that I wasn't putting too much pressure on pelvic floor. From 6 months I carried on with cardio (stopped running but lots of walking uphill and cross trainer) and still did weights, but added in pregnancy Pilates DVD and a water based exercise class for pregnant ladies.

With my first I pretty much just took it as a green light to stop exercising at all, eat as much as possible and as a result gained nearly 4 stone! Am very keen not to let that happen again!!
