We've been engaged 18 months but decided today to set a date properly - our anniversary next year falls on a Saturday so I've just called the venue and they have as vacancy so I've booked it, aarraagh!
I haves 20 months (September next year) to look good, anyone want to help/advise/kick me up the arse?!

Thanks! You're actually the first people I've told! Well Ds2 but he's 7 months and doesn't care!
Quite a bit, I am hippo like quite curvy so about 6 stone? I think that's 84lb and the wedding is about 80 weeks so its a pound-ish a week?

MFP is My Fitness Pal, it's an app where you log all your calories, all your exercise, its gives nutritional value to almost everything, you can hook up with others on there, so really a bit like facebook for dieters.

A pound a week is a perfect weight loss.....slow and steady will win the race.

Eat less, move more, it will happen for sure :)

Congratulations! You can def do it if you commit to it

MFP is brilliant and you can work your calories as you want so you can have a bit of choc or some crisps if you want, but log everything.

What sort of exercise do you fancy? A dvd at home, an exercise bike, power walking with the buggy, aquafit (do I remember that you have a bad back?)

The good thing about MFP is that you don't have to try and remember what sort of things you're not meant to eat. Just reducing portion sizes slightly is so easy and you don't have to deny yourself anything then.

1lb a week should be fairly easy without feeling like you're on a crazy restrictive diet. I think the calorie deficit you need to lose 1lb is 3500 (please someone correct me if I'm wrong), which sounds like a lot but spread over a week, it isn't really.

What sort of exercise did you have in mind? What facilities are near you- gym, places to run/cycle, swimming pool?

Congrats on setting a date :)

Brilliant, thanks for advice everyone (and congratulations!)
I've been looking at the 5:2/4:3 threads, will that be a good idea?

I've lost 6 stones PavlovsCats, though it took me 2 years. The first year I did MyFitnessPal and that taught me what normal portion sizes were, then I was able to stop logging and lost the rest of the weight (much more quickly actually) on 5:2. My before and after photos are public.

think yourself lucky! we've just decided to get married this new year, and I only have until THIS September to shed loads of weight!
I downloaded a weightless coach called Noom for my phone. its great cos it counts calories, sets you challenges and logs workouts and so on. it increases in difficulty as time goes on too. I lost 8lb in my first week with its help. I'm over the moon I've had a good start cos I've been overweight for years. I'm starting slim fast next week too. we subscribed to Amazon and save 15% every month. we get all sorts delivered! I've got a boat load of slim fast coming I can't wait!
