Hi its early days, but I asked the doctor how long before I could return back to gym/exercise classes and she said 8 weeks? This was my second pregnancy. I was pretty fit before pregnancy and during but then had to go on bedrest so it will be a challenge. Any experiences?

I was banned from anything more than light walking from 32 wks after an early labour scare, then had an elcs at 38wks due to dd's position. So I was pretty inactive for the last 6 wks of my pg, although up till then I'd still been doing exercise classes twice a week.

I tried a brief jog after 7 wks and was so out of condition it was hard hard work, and that was doing jog a minute, walk for two minutes. Tried again a week later and it was fine. I went back to exercise classes at 9 weeks, and it wasn't too bad. I was strict with myself and made sure I did one excercise class and 2 runs a week, and I was back to my pre-pg fitness levels by the time dd was 3.5 months old.

Thank you bunny. I think the lack of activity in pregnancy will have reduced my fitness level more than i realise. I am anxious not to over do it but would like to start back sooner if possible and have a routine if possible.

I started Pilates 6 weeks post c-section however the classes were post natal taught by a Physio specialising in pregnancy and post natal. I wanted to start getting back to normal as I was back to work at 12 weeks. I didn't really do cardio work but I did get a pedometer and tried to increase my distance (with buggy of course) everyday before the school pickup. I'd Google for a few post natal classes perhaps ?
