Getting back into condition after a very bad virus; is graduated exercise the way to go?

I think/hope this week has gone really well

She has done a lesson a day & the teacher says she has slowly increased what she is managing.

This next week she is going to do one class properly & mark a second class - her fitness seems to be returning steadily (again hopefully)

I think working with a physio so that she has weekly input on her rehabilitation and a good Pilates class to strengthen her core

The GP is keen for her to start classes again (for emotional & social reasons as well as fitness)

She gets to join in (half-heartedly) miss jumps and spins & basically 'mark' the class; ideally a class a day.

I think walking & 'games' will compliment that (I think)

A bit off the wall, so feel free to ignore, but might she do some mind of dancey workout routine? Obviously taking it at a gentle pace. There's lots of free ones on Youtube (I've just done a couple by Tiffany Rothe), but I'm sure there must be others.
She might like the occasional change from going for a walk.

Walking is good - I'll push for some of that

"Is it cardio or muscle strength she's lacking?" to be embarrassingly frank I'm not even sure I understand that blush

Maybe someone like a sports therapist who knows about rehabilitation might help? Or a physio with knowledge of dancers' problems?

I would try to combine something that is low intensity (swim, walk) with something like Pilates or body conditioning that builds strength and muscle tone. Then build up the other stuff.

When getting back into running after injury/illness I had to take it very slow just building back from square one. A bit disheartening when you know what you used to be capable of.
Short, frequent low intensity sounds better than trying for high bursts of activity, but I don't know anything about dancing training.

DD (15) is recovering from a very bad virus (possibly Glandular Fever)

She hasn't exercised/danced seriously since mid December; her teacher hasn't really had any experience with this sort of situation

So we are:
# eating a really good diet
# taking loads of vitamins
# plenty of rest

But how do we address the exercise, does she do short bursts of full energy? or mark the classes gradually increasing the time? or something else?

She was exercising 16-18 hours a week previously and working on a fairly high level in both skill & stamina. Today she can barely do a sit up.

Help?
