I've entered the ballot too! Missed out on the Bath Half in March so, as there seems to be no half marathons between then and the Autumn, I went for this one. Fingers crossed!

Have you done a half before? This will be my first but I'm doing the Marlborough Rough N Tumble this weekend which is 10 miles so if I can still breath after that then I should be ok Smile

MN is a bad influence :)

Tried to do this last year via Winston's Wish but was too late and had forgotten about it until now. I'm in!

Newdaynewpants - not sure where you are but there is the Silverstone half in March - round the F1 circuit so very flat and one in St Albans in June 9th.
Have you tried this site for events?
I can recommend Silverstone and might try St Albans this year.
Good luck this w/e.

Hi all
I'm in!! I won a place in the daily mirror ballot and so did my friend/running partner. Need to think about booking accommodation now.

I have done a half before in October but it was a local one and no where near as big as this.

Am quite excited about it now.

Anyone else get a place yet?

I've got a place Grin- I had to withdraw last year due to a chest infection so had automatic entry. They'res a half marathon thread with some lovely people on- hasn't been very active lately though.

Hi I already have a place for this year's GNR, got through in the mirror ballet last year and then found out I was pregnant 2 weeks later so had to defer. This will be my second go, I ran in 2010 but was 8 weeks pregnant and picked up an injury at around the 6 mile mark so had a much slower time than I'd hoped.

Congrats annieshaf & idocrazythings on your places despite the injury and the miserable weather I has such a great time, the atmosphere is awesome and I'm really looking forward it provided I can train properly that is!

raspberry first time round I hadn't been for a run for 2 years. I started with a run for 30 mins program from runners world which I think is similar to c25k around march time and then started a half marathon program not long after. I'll be doing it a similar way this time round.

If I hadn't been pregnant by the time the race came round I'd definitely have been well on course to be able to gave run the whole thing in a decent for me time, as it was I finished in 2 hours 40 having had to walk from 10 miles. Although I did run the last mile along the front I could probably have walked faster!!

Good luck with the ballot and the training rasperrytart. I got to 5k around the end of Feb last year and did my first half marathon in October so I'm sure you will be ready if you keep up the training. Have been running on treadmill for the last 2 weeks as its been too icy to run outside Hmm. Makes it hard to do long runs though as its a bit tedious. Managed to go out with the club last night as its started to improve so hoping to do a long run on Friday morning.
