Runners. How long after illness before starting again?

Had horrendous chest and sinus infection for around two weeks. Never felt so ill to be honest. Went from 70 km a week to barely bring able to walk 500 m to drop dd at school.

Finished AB's on Monday. Feel ok but NOT 100%, still a bit sniffly. Could probably do a 5 km though if I am honest. How long should I leave it? And any tips on a scheduled for building back up would be great. Thanks.

I think the general advice is not to run if your chest is congested (nose is ok). I think you need to listen to your body and go easy on it, if you still feel weak and as if you are fighting infection, don't put more pressure on your body by exercising. I know its hard and frustrating to take time out but its better to go back to it properly once full strength, than end up doing half hearted work outs that leave you exhausted and not properly well for weeks

Once you do start again, just go for a steady 5k and judge increases by how you feel during and afterwards.
