DD has her first half marathon in two weekend's time as a lead up to the London but she hates bananas, what is a good alternative an dhow the heck do we play this pre race eating marlarky?

Thank you.

Have a look at runners world website, good advice there.

chocolate porridge! that's what I had before my HM last year - it is rocket fuel

Basically - normal porridge with a hefty tablespoon of cocoa powder

she should try to eat a couple of hours before the race

and keep hydrated

and have a wee just before!

also - energy gels are v good to have while running

what has she been eating before her LSR in the last few weeks? As if she is ok with what has fuelled her through them then why change.

Whatever she eats before should be tried and tested that it will not make her feel sick, give a dodgy bowel issue (necesitating a trip to the loo).

As someone said above have a look at the runners world website, there is a wealth of info on there.

Bibbo I love chocolate porridge :o

She's just using gels at the moment and possibly a flapjack or one of those noodles in a cup style thing but her running has been severely curtailed by her asthma lately so he hasn't done many long runs.

My pre HM food is spaghetti bolognese the night before, an early night, then porridge and grapes for brekkie with a strong coffee, and 500ml energy drink about 30mins before the off..

I'd second the advice about trying food on training runs first, you shouldn't really experiment with anything new on race day.

Wishing DD good luck! :)
