Blisters on soles of feet and 10k looming - HELP!

Hi All

Please help, I'm a bit frantic! I've worn silly shoes today and managed to get blisters on the soles of both feet [durr emoticon] where the ankle straps join the shoe so the blisters are on the outside part of both feet just in front of my heels.

I'm supposed to be doing a 10k training run tomorrow in preparation for my 10k race on 8th May. What do I do? Put on compeed plasters and go for it? Pop the blisters? Not run until they're gone.

Any advice VERY gratefully received.

TIA

Lu

You don't want to break the skin, but it is useful to drain the blisters.
I have always found a really good way of doing this is to sew a piece of cotton through the blister and leave it over night.
The liquid seeps out through the thread allowing the inside of the blister to dry and harden, but leaving the covering skin in tact to prevent infection.
If the blister is quite large, it can be necessary to sew thread at both ends to drain it properly.
Try that and see how it feels in the morning. With some plasters etc on top, you may be able to run.
