Not sure how big it is in the UK yet, but would love to chat to any other Crossfitters out there.

I've been doing some Crossfit. I don't follow the WODs precisely but I like doing all of the Crossfit types of exercises at the gym. Just a shame they don't have a crossfit gym in my city yet. But I don't lift big weight in the olympic lifts and still need lots of practice with the trickier ones like snatch.

Do you go to a Crossfit gym?

Hi there,

Since about Easter a few friends and I have been doing Crossfit outside - at the park, beach, garage etc. One of us is a level 2 trainer and she has shown us the ropes (literally...).

Just a few weeks ago we had to bite the bullet and join a CF gym, as it´s got too cold outside and it has been so much fun! It´s been great having a pull up bar, ropes, rower etc, although trainer friend does have a lot of equipment that we had been using.

I´m in Denmark and it´s really popular here for some reason. We generally do our own programming though so we can do it at our own time and we can speak in English! The first WOD we did with the gym was 400 lunges - seriously cannot recommend it...took me about 4 days to recover!

It is addictive. I´ve been in the UK on holiday this week and so only running (and eating and drinking too much...) and I´m absolutely desparate to get back to it on Thurs!

How does it work doing the CF workouts in a normal gym? Hopefully something will crop up near you soon.

Hi, 400 lunges, wow! That would be killer!

It's not too hard doing CF workouts at my gym but it's akward going full throttle with your workout when most gym goers are not. It would be more fun doing it with others for sure. But my gym has an olympic bar and squat rack, pull up bar, med balls, kettlebells and all the usual cardio eqpmt. So must things are possible but of course wall balls and HS push ups are not! I would love to use a rope and rings too.

There is a CF gym about 20miles from me but is too far with small kids to be home for. When I move back to the states there should be one in our city so thatwill be fun.

Hope your workouts go well in Denmark. One thing to ask -have you had any problem with aching joints? I've found this if I do too much upper body in one day and it's slightly scaring me away, though I'm just downscaling intensity for now. Take care!

Sorry, been getting back into the groove again after being away. I haven't had any problem with aching joints (other than my dodgy knee...), just aching everything else after most workouts! There's no doubt CF gets results but it is pretty intense. Nothing better for leaning out though IMO.

I'm not sure I could continually do the wods on my own all the time. I really do rely a lot on my workout buddies. One's leaving in Jan and the other is going to be out a few days a week, so am going to have to suck it up and get on with it. The only downside with a CF gym is that it's pretty macho, add in the language barrier and it can be an intimidating place...

We're doing an 8 week programme starting this week and my trainer friend has really taken it up a notch. I'm also really excited to be going to the Mobility cert this weekend in Copenhagen! Check out mobility wod if you haven't seen it before.

I should have realised from your user name that you're from the US! We lived just outside NYC for 4 years - loved it!
