Anyone taking part in Park Run?

Just wondering if anyone has done any of these - free weekly 5k runs in various locations round the UK (and 3 in Denmark too!). Have recently discovered one local to me, and have taken part in two so far. Any one else?

've signed up, but not done one yet -I'm about to finish C25K so thought it would be a good way to keep motivAted .

Whereabouts are you? I'm planning to do the Black 0ark one in a few weeks

Am in Norwich. Definitely good way to keep motivated. The one here is at 9am on Saturdays, and both times so far I have been back home by 10am, so does not impinge on the rest of the day too much.

What is C25K? Where are you?

I've done the one local to me quite a few times

I always thought there was no such thing as a free lunch..............and haven't quite got to grips with this being a totally free event which is so well organised

YEs, does seem a bit too good to be true. Also impressed by the fact that you can take part in any of them, don't even need to re-register for a different location. For the moment I am hooked (I think) but the weather is ok at the moment - not sure how I will feel about doing it in pouring rain / freezing cold / both! Though the idea of an "official" time is a great motivation for me!

I'm west London so my local one is nr Slough. Nit sure when I'll do it yet . Have discovered that I'm only running about 2.5 miles, thought I was doing nearly 3!

C25k stands for couch (potato) to 5k, and is a 9 week program to get you to run 5k . I've had a couple of not very good weeks so have redone week 8 twice , need to up my speed and distance!

Definitely like the idea of having a time to beat!

Hi Wohmum, so this is where you hang out when you're not listening to Raw-bert?!

Just looked at the Parkrun website and there's one less than 3 miles away. I'm going to have to investigate further, aren't I? Just hope it isn't hilly (don't do hills.....).

I do these sometimes and they're great. I love all the stats you get afterwards, and how they politely do not tell you when you have a personal worst Blush

wohmum there is one in Richmond Park and one in the Old Deer Park in Richmond - might be a bit closer than Slough?
