Wondered if you were around and how the running was going? Did you join any other threads after we finished C25k?

Hiya Funnily enough I came on the sport and exercise board to try and catch up with you! Uncanny! No haven't joined any other threads. Am still doing the 30 mins on the treadmill 3xweekly cos the classes are at an awkward time for me but am hoping to go to step or another aerobics class this week. I have worked on my speed a bit and managed 8.5km/h last time I ran (usually do 8km) so am hoping to up it a bit more over time so that eventually I am doing 10km/h or thereabouts. How are you doing? My friend started the c25k (also hates running/never been good at it) and is also now running for 30 mins each time. She is amazed

oh good, you found this! i had a complete break after finishing the c25k, i didn't know how to stay interested and it was so hot as well. then last week it was cooler and i started missing it

i did a 25 min run, then on friday a 40 min which was great, i felt good! i wasn't planning to go out for any particular time, but i just kept on going, i think i had REALLY missed it

dp is doing a 5 mile race at the end of august and i was thinking about joining him
i clocked up 4 miles on the 40 min run
i feel like i am going r-e-a-l-l-y slowly but when i check the distance it is not too bad
dp runs loads and is fast, so i am alwayd going to look crap compared to him

your friend must be chuffed. i've been trying to convert people but i think i am scaring them off instead LOL
i go all intense and evangelical on them

i've lost loads of weight quite easily, am feeling more like my old self in many ways
really pleased i started doing it

Glad you've lost loads of weight I don't think I have - though people say I look as though I have. I've been weighing myself on and off over past 6 weeks and am exactly the same but I'm not dieting and I only stopped bf 8 weeks ago so I guess it might take a bit of time. I have lost inches though My clothes look and fit better and I can see my tummy has shrunk. But I want to get a tight tummy again. Had c-section with dd so I need to get some advice on what abs exercises are best. I did some abs exercises yesterday (weights machines) and am hurting today. So I guess that's a good sign
Good luck with the 5 mile run. It sounds as though you will manage it fine if you are able to do 4 miles

toning up that much sounds wonderful - the weight doesn't matter so much as getting a better shape, i think
if you've stayed the same weight, you must have built a lot of muscle - really good for your metabolism and you'll look fab

my tummy is a mess
i had 2 ordinary deliveries but i swelled to a scary size both times, and got stretch marks and lots of loose skin
i have to make sure i never bend over while naked

Nice of you to say.....not sure if I've gained muscle though or whether I lost a few pounds before I started weighing myself. I have lost weight on my bust though which I'm delighted about. Was an E when bf, then dd, and am now a C I hate having big boobs. The last time they were a C cup was 7 years ago (pre ds).

ah don't get me started talking about boobs
years of breastfeeding have not been kind to mine

i should be out there tonight but it's wet and my knees and feet are sore
unless i wear trainers all the time i get achey from lots of walking, and i hate wearing trainers, so i have achey feet a lot!

Hmm......what we sacrifice for our kids eh!
Have you tried fitflops - I hear they are good for all manner of foot and joint problems. It's horrible having sore feet I've got a painful spot on my foot due to two stubborn veruccas. Don't know what to do about them cos I've been to the chiropodist but they are still here
I went swimming on weds night. It was really nice actually and smoothed out my abs pain nicely. So tonight or tomorrow morning I have to go to the gym for a run and some abs work. Hope you have a nice weekend

thanks lush, the weekend is going ok so far, although ds2 has decided to take a vow of non-sleeping apparently

i have some orthopaedic flip flops (sounds so sexy ) but they are not comfortable for long distances and i do walk a lot
i've seen physios and podiatrists and so on, but it seems to be a matter of keeping it manageable rather than really getting on top of it and sorting it out
sorry about your verrucas
i would go back and say 'oi they are still here!"

i went for a run last night. i've decided to try to enter this 5 mile run with dp, so have got to get some long runs is
i was planning to do about 45 mins, but then got lost in some woods and emerged completely on the wrong side, with bedtime fast approaching (the boys are tricky at bedtime so usually need both of us at home)
i knew if i didn't carry on running home i would be really late, so i ended up doing 60 mins
annoyingly i have no idea on distance, but i am hoping it was 5 miles or more
back of my knee a bit stiff today but not too bad

Wow 60 mins running Well done Yes, somehow I think you will manage the 5 mile run just fine
Was naughty and didn't go yesterday but am today (just waiting for my brunch to digest!)
Sorry to hear about your ds defying sleep. Hope it's a brief phase. My ds did this until he was 3 and it nearly finished us off tbh. dd sleeps very well most of the time (now 1) so am very grateful.

oh hope you had a good run!
ds1 is a veteran non-sleeper but ds2 looked ike he was shaping up to do better
the last fortnight has been a real step back though
i am too old for this lark

Run was fine thanks. The lack of sleep should be a great contraceptive shouldn't it - yet we still go back for more!

lol - me too. Thinking about it, maybe there was a reason for the 5yr gap between ds and dd

How's it going Kooks? I did a good run today. Managed to run at 8.5 km/h for 20 mins, at which point I upped it to 9km/h then towards the end of the run (about 33 mins) I was running at 10 km/h. I still felt quite comfortable - wanted to run 5k but had to get back as we were going out. Will try the full 5k when I next go to the gym.

Hi Lush, sorry, I had a non-exercise week as I've got a chesty cold, and didn't check this thread
sounds like your speed is improving - i seem to just run more or less the same speed whatever, and if i put a REAL effort in I can only improve it by tiny amounts, so I am sticking to working on distance atm
i had a couple more long runs (5m) and enjoyed them - measured my speed on one of them and it is basically 10 mins per mile even when i do 5 miles, so I feel more confident about the race (in 3 weeks!!!)

then i went out on thursday even though i was slightly chesty still - i found i was slower and stopped after 4 miles

one thing i am worried about, re: the race, is there are no showers there, and we are staying on afterwards for a picnic on the beach with friend Confused
i think i am going to have to strip in the (public) toilets and do some things with baby wipes
i sweat loads and am a bit worried about being skanky after the race
sorry not a very nice subject!

hi Lush, hope you're ok, i keep losing this thread from 'threads i'm on'

how is your speed going? i am doing ok at distances (tried a 10 k today and survived except for a small blister) but really don't like exerting myself, so increasing speed is going to be slow work if it happens at all

how do you motivate yourself to go faster? i find if i start feeling tired, i just want to give up basically Confused
need something to spur me on!

Hello You're doing great. I have kind of plateaued. Met with a personal trainer at the gym (free review type session) and he advised that I do interval training twice a week. 20 mins total with 1 min jog (say 7.5kph) and 1 min sprint (at 11.5kph) alternating for the duration of the run. I find it really hard doing the sprint but have to keep going as apparently it will improve my fitness and endurance.....Hmm
So I do that twice a week and something else once a week (swim or 5k run at 9kph). It's a way of life now and I enjoy the time by myself. Good luck with your race - am sure you'll be fine Smile Don't worry about the picnic thing.....you can buy those moist travel wipes (better than wet wipes)or bring a flannel (plus a small hand towel)and soap and you can use some tap water to wet the flannel. I've done this before...........can you tell?!!
