So what do we think of Angela eagle?

Is she good news?

She seems to be another one who has come from nowhere to take advantage of this brexit catastrophe. Has she been helicoptered in by the blairite centre left? Does she know what she is doing? Do we think she will succeed at ousting Jeremy Corbyn?

I'm off to google her because I really don't know much about her yet...

YourPerception Sat 09-Jul-16 21:58:23

I like her. There are others I would prefer.

museumum Sat 09-Jul-16 22:00:31

Ken Livingston said she's "real labour" on radio 4 today.

0phelia Sat 09-Jul-16 22:01:26

She's a Blairite, pro-Iraq war, pro-austerity, anti-democratic back stabber.
If you like that sort of thing.

Bearbehind Sat 09-Jul-16 22:02:50

She needs to seriously up her game in the media spotlight if she wants to get anywhere.

Anytime I've seen her she comes across as a pathetic, useless wet blanket.

museumum Sat 09-Jul-16 22:03:04

Really? Why did Livingston specifically say she wasn't a blarite on pm?

0phelia Sat 09-Jul-16 22:04:40

Museumum lol why would anyone listen to nut job Livingstone he was sacked for a reason haha!

BrexitentialCrisis Sat 09-Jul-16 22:05:56

I've just realised she is the one that David Cameron told to 'calm down dear' during that NHS debate. shock

museumum Sat 09-Jul-16 22:07:28

Livingston supports Corbyn do I thought he'd say anything to do down a competitor. But what he says was "at least she's proper labour and not one of those blarites"

0phelia Sat 09-Jul-16 22:10:35

Livingstone is a nutter.

Eagle is being thrown to the dogs. She has no chance against Corbyn.

EnthusiasmDisturbed Sat 09-Jul-16 22:23:29

She will not win against Corbyn and she would not win a General Election

I wasn't overly inpresswd by her during the referendum debates and sadly i think her sexuality would be up for discussion in the press

museumum Sat 09-Jul-16 22:28:21

Is she gay? It's not done Kezia Dugdale or Ruth Davidson any harm.

EnthusiasmDisturbed Sat 09-Jul-16 22:39:42

You don't think the Tory press would make a deal of it should she be leader of the Labour Party (which I don't think she will be) and was running for PM

I would like to think the country is that progressive but I don't believe it is

nancy75 Sat 09-Jul-16 22:42:45

Whenever I see her on the TV she seems to be on the verge of crying.

PigletWasPoohsFriend Sat 09-Jul-16 22:43:45

Angela has been an MP for many years and has held positions in both the cabinet and shadow cabinet.

She was also on the ballot for deputy leader last year.

In all honesty under the current system no one would win against Corbyn because of the £3 entriests.

Imo I believe the party will split.

Maz2444466 Sat 09-Jul-16 22:46:40

nancy75 I've noticed that too.

I didn't find her impressive in the referendum debates and any credibility she might have has been somewhat eroded by the "I'll make an announcement soon" doorstep shuffle.

She's a sacrificial lamb in the Blairite-orchestrated shenanigans

MajesticWhine Sat 09-Jul-16 23:05:21

I like her. But not sure she has the right qualities to be leader. Good luck to her though, the sooner labour sort themselves out and can provide opposition the better.

I think thst page like this is a good starting point to understand how Mp votes:

bkgirl Sun 10-Jul-16 04:25:10

thanks antimatter
Generally voted for university tuition fees

.\/.

BrexitentialCrisis Sun 10-Jul-16 06:46:13

Thanks everyone. Yes I was quite surprised by her voting record!

When I said that she appears to have come from nowhere, I meant- in terms of her ambitions to be leader, not her shadow cabinet experience. I agree though - she seems petrified and on the verge of tears. What could be going on?

Modalverb1 Sun 10-Jul-16 07:06:00

Does Labour have ANYONE who is states(wo)man-like enough to lead the Party and win a GE? Or would the members block this?

Surferjet Sun 10-Jul-16 07:22:56

She started crying during an interview on TV about the whole Corbyn thing. Sorry, but she comes across as an emotional idiot & I wouldn't want her in charge of anything.
Plus she's got zero charm & charisma, she actually makes Michael Gove look exciting.

zen1 Sun 10-Jul-16 07:23:51

From what I've seen, I don't think she's leadership material. I think they're just getting her to stand so other potential candidates throw their hats into the ring.

Inkanta Sun 10-Jul-16 07:41:35

She has a teenie weenie whiny timid voice.

She can't be leader.
