Does anyone remember the Comic Strip shows on C4 in the 80's and 90's? There was a brilliant one called Strike! Which was a parody of American films and showed how Hollywood would make a film about the miners' strike. It had Jennifer Saunders playing the part of Meryl Streep playing the part of Margaret Thatcher and Peter Richardson playing Al Pacino playing Arthur Scargill.
Someone needs to make a movie. I can see Hugh Grant as David Cameron and Glenn Close as Andrea Leadsom. Can't think who would want to play Gove or Cameron.

I would prefer a 'The Thick of It' special - more swearing

Although if someone had written that script 6 months ago it would've been rejected as too far fetched.....

I remember this so well - would love to see Comic Strip doing the referendum.

There has been a distinct lack of satirical comedy recently - I want HIGNFY, the news quiz, Spitting Image, and that one that Marcus Brigstock does, Charlie Brooker - where are yooooou all??

Lurking I'd forgotten the GLC one. It was genius. I so agree about Spitting Image. I reckon they'd have Boris as a clown complete with red nose and enormous shoes although that's probably playing to the 'cuddly' image.
They could steal the line from Withnail and I about coming on holiday by mistake and change it to 'We've won the referendum by mistake'.
