To lose on party leader may be misfortune
To lose 2 smacks of carelessness

derxa Mon 04-Jul-16 10:16:59

What is he up to?

Liz09 Mon 04-Jul-16 10:17:33

Just came across the news here in Aus.

Not something I expected to happen.

PurpleDaisies Mon 04-Jul-16 10:17:52

Last time he changed his mind after three days...

LittlePickleHead Mon 04-Jul-16 10:18:07

I'm laying bets on his joining the Tories to be on leadsoms negotiating team

Alfieisnoisy Mon 04-Jul-16 10:21:57

Yep...a nasty little man with far right leanings planning to join the Tories I suspect.

PaintedDrivesAndPolishedGrass Mon 04-Jul-16 10:22:28

Exactly what LittlePickleHead said.

MsKite Mon 04-Jul-16 10:22:54

Whatever he's up to, no good can come of it

Mistigri Mon 04-Jul-16 10:23:30

Jumped or pushed?

whatisfair Mon 04-Jul-16 10:23:42

Oh Yippeee. He's gone. Thereby leaving the party open to reposition itself as the anti-immigration party of the disenfranchised left (and the just generally racist).

So far, the most likely outcome of this referendum is that we end up with a far-right party as part of the permanent political landscape. Which, by the way, would also have happened if Remain had won by 4%

Thanks boys.

The dozy bastard tries to incite more EU exits on his quit speech.....FFS.

Winterbiscuit Mon 04-Jul-16 10:26:30

Didn't he do this before, but reappeared shortly afterwards? confused

LineyReborn Mon 04-Jul-16 10:29:19

Carswell will fuck off back to the Tories as well, if they'll have him.

Which will be emblematic of this whole farce.

tiggytape Mon 04-Jul-16 10:30:59

In the days just before the vote, he was suddenly very much in the background. I suppose he knows that he is so divisive that he jeopordises the cause he believes in.

UKIP's journey is not necessarily over. If the UK get a rubbish deal in Europe (from a UKIP perspective that would mean a compromise deal of some sort) then UKIP will still exist to push for further moves away from the EU.
And if that coincides with a Labour Party split or massive hemorrhaging of support then UKIP will want to be ready to present themselves as an acceptable alternative to Labour in places like the North of England and Wales to win many more seats in Parliament.

trafalgargal Mon 04-Jul-16 10:31:35

Wonder what behind the scenes have gone on betwixt him and the tortes.

JoffreyBaratheon Mon 04-Jul-16 10:31:48

Hope he does go back to the tories. He'll be a nightmare for them to control. And let's face it he only spouts what most of them are probably thinking and saying behind closed doors.

Barmcakebessie Mon 04-Jul-16 10:32:25

Yes..he has form for doing this occasionally. hmm

usual Mon 04-Jul-16 10:33:35

What again?

Furiosa Mon 04-Jul-16 10:34:10

I reckon he's going to run for Tory leader.

StickyProblem Mon 04-Jul-16 10:34:20

He'll either set up a new party or join the Tories and compete for PM.

Floisme Mon 04-Jul-16 10:34:53

If it's true then I don't think it's necessarily a good thing. Farage is the jovial, beer drinking face of ukip - they won't fold now and I bet the people behind him are even nastier.

PeaceOfWildThings Mon 04-Jul-16 10:35:07

Yes, Winter, he's resigned more times than Gove's said he's not equipped to be PM.
I don't trust anything he says, except it's all lies and very likely he'll join the Brexit advisory committee. He's not standing down as MEP (until the exit) so he still has power and attention there.

bakeoffcake Mon 04-Jul-16 10:35:27

He has been very quiet hasn't he? It was very strange that he pulled out of that debate the night before the vote. I suspect someone has something on him.
