www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/03/boris-johnson-project-fear-hysteria-is-gripping-britain/

"Boris Johnson today condemns the government for failing to highlight the positives of Brexit and instead allowing "hysteria" to take hold following the referendum result.

In his first intervention since withdrawing from the Tory leadership race, Mr Johnson criticises the government for offering the public a "binary choice on the EU" without explaining how the country would move forward in the event of a Leave vote.

In an article for The Telegraph Mr Johnson says the failure to explain that Britain can have a "bright future" has led to protests by young people who now have irrational fear of life outside the EU."

The rest of them remind me of the Kevin and Perry sketch where he has to wash the car.

"It's soooooooo unfair!"

Cameron's resignation strop was deeply embarrassing, Clarke, Heseltine and Blair no better. Gove and May acting like children fighting over a favourite toy. The entire labour party realising they are on the wrong side of history, yesterday's men.

Utter contempt for the people of the UK laid bare.

Well done Boris.

Oh, and Osborne would like to stay at the treasury...

Yeah cos he's instilled so much confidence in his abilities and the economy that he is indispensable....

Just remind me, Guy Fawkes night we are supposed to be celebrating the fact that the plot failed????

Pity he couldn't of acted like a 'grown up' several months ago and we wouldn't be in this mess.
Lying twerp.

Oh Boris if only you'd had a glimmer of media attention this year then you could have put your case. Oh. Wait....

And in other news Osbourne's punishment budget of tax raises and spending cuts is about to materialise as corporation tax cuts.

Dear Bullingdon Chaps, the general public do have a memory span greater than 3 weeks.

Boris is acting like a grown up? Boris Jonhson?

Are you for real!

You would have to explain HopeClearwater...

There seems to be an implicit assumption on your part, though I cannot detect exactly what. :)

"Boris is acting like a grown up? Boris Jonhson?

Are you for real!"

Yers.... It is.... Different. Lol

Only in comparison I hasten to add. He still needs his hair ruffling, a disapproving look and a firm guidance that his bedroom should be cleaned properly this time!

That wasn't in response to your question, alvis, it was just a comment on Johnson.

I know he's now serving as a professional troll, who's notoriety will work as click-bait but I do wish he could be utterly ignored until he disappeared from public life.

He's a criminal, frankly.

If he was acting like a grown up he would have taken responsibility for his actions.

Instead he has been a big part of creating a hell of a lot of mess, and then retereated into his comfort zone.

Tell you what Boris YOU led the leave campaign, it was down to YOU to spell out how life would be outside the EU, instead you toured the country with a downright lie on the side of your bus, claimed it was true and made a hell of a lot of promises.

But then, this is a spinflight thread, I didn't expect any critical analysis, just never ending praise.

It was up to the Leave campaign to explain how the country would move forward in the event of a Leave vote. Obviously.

"It was up to the Leave campaign to explain how the country would move forward in the event of a Leave vote. Obviously."

Sadly not.

It was up to the Government. Cameron clearly stated that Article 50 would be activated, as did the legislation.

Indeed Cameron, as minister for the Civil Service, went as far as to prevent the Leave campaign from making any plans. The Civil Service were denied even talking about Brexit.

Boris campaigned for leave knowing full well there wasn't plan. I agree that offering a binary choice election was very foolish of DC but it seems hypocritical in the extreme to act like he is surprised that this is the outcome of the leave vote. The only surprise for him is that leave won in the first place (I think he expected an honourable defeat). If he was really as pro leave as he says he should have been relishing the opportunity to step up and take charge of spearheading our country to a new future. Instead he hid for the weekend playing cricket making no speeches of any substance. I expect he will snipe from the sidelines for a few years before stepping back into the fray when things are sorted.

So the manic fool demanding a plan is 'acting like an adult'? What a fucking shame he didn't offer one before the referendum. The narcissistic self serving cunt.

I love this developing narrative that if things go wrong after Brexit it will be the fault of the Remainers for not being positive enough about the decision they didn't make.
Brexit won't make the country better because our problems - disastrous housing, inequality, lack of skills among the workforce - weren't being caused by the EU in the first place! The EU didn't tell us we couldn't build social housing, re-build education on the successful Finnish model or develop social welfare and tax policies like Denmark's. Why would I believe that a Brexit government is going to solve these issues when they've failed for the last thirty years.
Already we see the Chancellor planning to cut corporation tax. And who do you think will end up paying for that?

ivegotdreadfulpmttoday · 04/07/2016 07:00

Cutting corporation tax is a good idea. We need to make Britain an attractive country to investors and companies already here who are worried about brexit.

Report
HPFA · 04/07/2016 07:09

I notice you didn't answer the question of who is going to pay for it.

Cutting tax means lowering benefits and funding for the NHS / pensioners. Do the Tories have a mandate to do that? We need a general election before such a thing is implemented.

I think he's completely right to point out the role of the Government in preventing any planning for Brexit.

Cameron was going to flounce and issue A50 immediately. At least he showed some common sense by delaying that.

Yes, because of the a Government's choices, we do not know as much as we could about the range if options. But even without known options, it's the path people voted for.

I sigh inwardly when commentators try to make this about individuals.

HPFA, that's the Vote Leave slogan, isn't it? 'Bad stuff: it's always someone else's fault.'

Cutting corporation tax appears to be a cut in tax for businesses but for your average small business, it's actually a tax increase as the way they tax dividends has changed significantly. The effects on larger businesses I don't understand but your average lower than £500,000 profit businesses are now worse off.
