Instead he has been a big part of creating a hell of a lot of mess, and then retereated into his comfort zone.

Tell you what Boris YOU led the leave campaign, it was down to YOU to spell out how life would be outside the EU, instead you toured the country with a downright lie on the side of your bus, claimed it was true and made a hell of a lot of promises.

Sadly not.

It was up to the Government. Cameron clearly stated that Article 50 would be activated, as did the legislation.

Indeed Cameron, as minister for the Civil Service, went as far as to prevent the Leave campaign from making any plans. The Civil Service were denied even talking about Brexit.

Boris campaigned for leave knowing full well there wasn't plan. I agree that offering a binary choice election was very foolish of DC but it seems hypocritical in the extreme to act like he is surprised that this is the outcome of the leave vote. The only surprise for him is that leave won in the first place (I think he expected an honourable defeat). If he was really as pro leave as he says he should have been relishing the opportunity to step up and take charge of spearheading our country to a new future. Instead he hid for the weekend playing cricket making no speeches of any substance. I expect he will snipe from the sidelines for a few years before stepping back into the fray when things are sorted.

I love this developing narrative that if things go wrong after Brexit it will be the fault of the Remainers for not being positive enough about the decision they didn't make.
Brexit won't make the country better because our problems - disastrous housing, inequality, lack of skills among the workforce - weren't being caused by the EU in the first place! The EU didn't tell us we couldn't build social housing, re-build education on the successful Finnish model or develop social welfare and tax policies like Denmark's. Why would I believe that a Brexit government is going to solve these issues when they've failed for the last thirty years.
Already we see the Chancellor planning to cut corporation tax. And who do you think will end up paying for that?

Cutting tax means lowering benefits and funding for the NHS / pensioners. Do the Tories have a mandate to do that? We need a general election before such a thing is implemented.

Cameron was going to flounce and issue A50 immediately. At least he showed some common sense by delaying that.

Yes, because of the a Government's choices, we do not know as much as we could about the range if options. But even without known options, it's the path people voted for.

I sigh inwardly when commentators try to make this about individuals.

Cutting corporation tax appears to be a cut in tax for businesses but for your average small business, it's actually a tax increase as the way they tax dividends has changed significantly. The effects on larger businesses I don't understand but your average lower than £500,000 profit businesses are now worse off.
