When I think of Andrea Leadsom I think:

'Your Mum'

.....nuff said....

Andrea 'As a Mum' Leadsom is a loathsome, simpering woman.

She's fantastic!

She could do any senior Cabinet job, including Prime Minister. I hope she stands.

Which party?

Vri123 · 29/06/2016 11:03

I think she'd be a good Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Michael Gove chief EU Negotiator
Boris PM (its the lightweight job)

Corcory · 29/06/2016 12:04

Yes please. I've been saying this since last Friday. I certainly can't see her as a 'loathsome simpering woman' what's that about.
She was so great for leave in all the debates and T.V. interviews she did. She was so sensible and stated the case really well, not getting caught up in any silly over hyped figures or snide remarks and was very statesman/woman like.
A woman definitely would be good. Someone who isn't thought of as a hate figure by many in the country. and might unite the north and especially Scotland to the union. I really don't want Boris/Gove - far too divisive.

'might unite the north and especially Scotland to the union.'

Ha ha. You're funny.

Report
RedToothBrush · 29/06/2016 12:22

Corcory, if you saw the discussion about the big EU debate last Tuesday, then you would have seen the comments about Andrea Leadsome.

Divisive is the best description.

She was either liked or loathed. She was certainly not unifying

No I want Teresa May

I think she will be good at negotiations and labour if they get a good leader in stand a chance against her

They will really struggle if it's Boris

Anyone's better than Nicky Morgan. Who no-one has really even been mentioning, except Nicky Morgan.

Sees herself as a high quality candidate apparently. Hmm

He has no chance of winning but that Crabb guy gives me the heebie jeebies.

Tm or Andrea but andrea has experience, a cool head and a clear path and she is a Brexiteer.

She comes across very well.

I like my friends mums actually as well as adoring my own.

I agree, Andrea Leadsom for PM!

Tbf perhaps what all these goons at Westminster need is a Mum who can helicopter in and tell them to sort their shit out.

Report
BrexitentialCrisis · 29/06/2016 12:44

I would much prefer Andrea to any of the rest of them. I think she sounds capable and unflappable and I think she would do the best job.

Report
Corcory · 29/06/2016 18:53

Helicopter Mum, exactly. Anything is better than Boris and Gove.

That's exactly what I think. She seems to have had an impressive career before becoming an MP and she remains calm and smiley under pressure. I suppose that is a Mum sort of attribute - but a really positive one I think. If she doesn't want to put herself forward for PM she would be perfect for Chancellor. Fingers crossed for that.

Well she's just announced....

I'm pleased.
Not much reporting of Leadsom's announcement compared to Gove's. But you never know. Outsiders can do well in these elections.

I am with Mitzy on this one - said pretty much exactly that to my DH whilst we watched the debate that she was on with Gisella and Barmy Boris (that was the first time I had actually heard of the woman). I don't think there is a worthwhile candidate in all five that are standing - I was initially thinking TM would be the best of of a bad bunch (when I thought it would come down to her and Boris) but actually have considered it more and I actually can't decide who would be the least grim of them all. I am hoping for a snap election.

I'm uncomfortable with the idea of anyone who opposed gay marriage leading the country. She argues strongly for securing a trade deal outside of the EU without allowing for freedom of movement - something which has already been made clear is not an option for the UK and is also not realistic when the cross-continental, movement-reliant trading of services is our biggest export.

Said in another thread I think it will be a May PM Leadsom Chancellor dream team.

I heard her on Woman's hour this week, calmly dealing with a studio of hysterical doom-mongers and I thought she was terrific.

She mugged Jane 'apolitical' Garvey right off.

I would vote for her.

She opposed gay marriage? I dislike her even more! The homophobes might be impressed however.

Awful woman.

Agree Mooing. She has a good voice for radio and TV debates. Never sounds shrill - she's lucky.
