...and I am only about a third British anyway. But I am finding this ritual humiliation in the eyes of the wider world teeth itchingly embarrassing. And when it's coupled with the incomprehensible "we'll make Britain great again" and "We'be taken back control" mantras, the cognitive disonance is almost more than I can take.

Wasn't it you who started a thread last week about being perversely fascinated by what might happen, although you were voting remain?

BR, if Trump now also wins, I am blaming you personally.

You hadn't even prepared rockets to take us to our new planet. Poor, very poor.

I hear you OP. I'm waiting to see what taking back control is going to look like, and exactly who's going to do it.
I'm also looking forward to finding out what 'working together' means, especially when the price of everything goes up and we are plunged into recession.
Also, how great is Britain going to be when Scotland leaves the Union and we can't call it Britain any more, never mind Great.

I just really, really, really want to know what the long term gain is but no one seems to be able to tell me.

I think I'm gonna join the Americans and move to Canada.

"You hadn't even prepared rockets to take us to our new planet. Poor, very poor."

I didn't think I would actually *need^ the rockets so why would I have had a plan? I'd make you a pan galactic gargle blaster-but I can't afford the ingredients any more....

Just like our politicians, then, eh? Hmm

That was, indeed, the ironic point I was trying to make in a mildly humerous way, yes.......

Plans. Pffft. Who needs plans.

Smart people just chuck everything in the air and hope for the best.

Where did that thread end up - was it deleted for having tempted fate?!
You're a jinx. Wink So PM Johnson and President Drumpf. Bojo and Mofo.
Give me the heads up if you see four white, red, black and pale horses, will you?
Brew whilst you come up with a cunning plan. Preferably one that doesn't involve Jamie Oliver threatening to leave the country if Boris takes over, those type of promises never end well. cough phil collins cough

Yeah, I did get that.

Plans, schmans - lets just gamble: unpredictable odds, high statkes, but what the hell: I'm alright, Jack.
Pricks.

But seriously- it is fucking embarrassing, isn't it?

And the football didn't help. I have a 15 year old who was nearly in tears tonight. I don't want him to feel like that about his country. (he's much more British than I am)

Yes, it is embarrassing.

I am not British, and still I am cringing.

Sorry about the football - hope your DS will feel better soon: there are many things to be proud about Britain; current politics (and football, sadly) are not one of them, though.

Another poster recently referred to the approaching Apocalypse figurehead the potential new leaders of the modern world as Doris Trumpson.

Yee haw!
