Totally agree. She has been very present since the result and appears in control. All of the other politicians have disappeared which is adding to the uncertainty. Where is Boris? And Osborne? This all feels very weird to me.

I'm not sure her approach is as impressive as all that - she has a much simpler brief than anyone else given Scotland voted overwhelmingly against Brexit. It would therefore be odd if she had come out and said "er, yeah, not really sure what to do next, I will be consulting" - it's obvious what she needs to do next.

This morning she was asked about the constitutional question (which I'm not sure anyone actually knew about yesterday), which is whether the devolved governments have to consent to Brexit. She stated (with some reason) that they did and, when asked specifically if she would advise the Scottish Parliament to oppose it, she said she would. Most politicians would have tried to weasel out of the question and say it was hypothetical (which it is) and they could not answer without legal advice or whatever.

So on the one hand, she has a fairly simple brief, which is to reaffirm the clear will of the Scottish people to remain in the EU. On the other hand, she isn't ducking the hard questions, she is being visible and making strong and clear statements (much as Saddiq Khan is in similar circs but he obviously doesn't get to oppose legislation .. yet). She is providing strong, clear and broadly unifying leadership - and no-one else is.

NS has always had a plan: Scottish independence. She's a canny politician just like BoJo she's testing out the opportunities now for a successful referendum. I'll be interested to see if he Scots are up for a third referendum in as many years.
