Cool, calm & looks like a woman with a plan.
Very lucky to have her as our first minister.

Totally agree. She has been very present since the result and appears in control. All of the other politicians have disappeared which is adding to the uncertainty. Where is Boris? And Osborne? This all feels very weird to me.

much as I have voted labour all my life, and really admire him, what is Tom Watson doing at bloody Glastonbury when the country is going to shit and the tories are all fighting each other?

labour need a strong leader now and they are letting us down

watch it on the telly at night, Tom and get in front of the cameras speaking up for labour!!

She seems in control and is communicating with her voters.
There seems a complete vacuum of power in Westminster.
DC has gone AWOL as has GO, the Tory party in disarray, labour is presenting no opposition message, just infighting...
Where is the leadership this country needs to sort out this god almighty mess?!

I've never liked Nicola but she has been stellar in this. Respect has gone right up.

She's had two plans so far, yesterday it was a) stay in the EU let the rest leave - kicked into touch by the EU. Today it's b) she "may try" to veto exit - doomed to failure. What plan c) is who knows. Grandstanding, nothing more nothing less. Good PR for the faithful though.

She's had this plan for months. Only this morning, I listened to her Desert Island Discs from last November & this eventuality was discussed.

Good on her. Even if one doesn't agree with her politics, she is very impressive.

No one knows what the f*ck to do, but NS is at least batting around options. Everyone else needs to roll up their sleeves and get down to sorting this nightmare.

When did the EU "kick her into touch"? I have seen no such reports, though I've seen others that say various EU bods are happy to sit and talk with her. Confused

Apparently the Daily Mail reported that NS had had a knockback from Brussels. Must be true then. Hmm

She said on TV this morning she hasn't spoken to anyone in Brussels yet.

Could the English have a referendum to join Scotland? We need a strong leader!

(Or if not at least the "northern powerhouse" and London?

I'm not sure her approach is as impressive as all that - she has a much simpler brief than anyone else given Scotland voted overwhelmingly against Brexit. It would therefore be odd if she had come out and said "er, yeah, not really sure what to do next, I will be consulting" - it's obvious what she needs to do next.

This morning she was asked about the constitutional question (which I'm not sure anyone actually knew about yesterday), which is whether the devolved governments have to consent to Brexit. She stated (with some reason) that they did and, when asked specifically if she would advise the Scottish Parliament to oppose it, she said she would. Most politicians would have tried to weasel out of the question and say it was hypothetical (which it is) and they could not answer without legal advice or whatever.

So on the one hand, she has a fairly simple brief, which is to reaffirm the clear will of the Scottish people to remain in the EU. On the other hand, she isn't ducking the hard questions, she is being visible and making strong and clear statements (much as Saddiq Khan is in similar circs but he obviously doesn't get to oppose legislation .. yet). She is providing strong, clear and broadly unifying leadership - and no-one else is.

She is demonstrating leadership, unlike the UK government and Vote Leave group. I am very impressed by her.

NS has always had a plan: Scottish independence. She's a canny politician just like BoJo she's testing out the opportunities now for a successful referendum. I'll be interested to see if he Scots are up for a third referendum in as many years.

The lack of reassurance from our government is frightening. I have been shitting it all weekend feeling stressed and shaky, as I understand it Boris has been playing cricket!

Ah, yes, I've just seen the "kick into touch" report. In the Mail, repeated in the Sun, supposedly quoting un-named "sources" in Brussels. That'll be that, then.

I agree she's demonstrating a level of leadership lacking In Westminster at the moment.

Her 'plans' are bollocks though, frankly.
