House prices are projected to fall meaning more people will be able to first time buy

There will be downward pressure on prices of goods as import terms (we buy more in than we sell out) can be negotiated directly with UK

There will be inward investment as many manufacturers will prefer a UK base rather than their current EU base

Prices will fall if there is less confidence in the market. People put off moving and buying because they are not feeling financially secure or may loose their jobs. Others put off buying waiting for the market to fall which is in itself a self fulfilling prophecy.

Right but if people are put off selling then there are fewer houses on the market and supply still won't meet demand so those houses on the market will attract a higher price not the other way round as there are so few on the market?

Unless one is hoping for an influx of houses whose owners have lost jobs and defaulted on their mortgages so are being sold by lenders.

House price falls will bring back the grim reality of negative equity. So even if people want to move they won't necessarily be able to. Yes, house prices might fall but that will probably hurt as many as it helps.

However, there should be some humility in it, and some acknowledgement of the fact that it will devastate others.

Some people don't have the capacity to "weather a temporary low for a (perceived) long term gain" - because some people are already at breaking point, and cannot "tighten your belts temporarily" because

Some families will be torn apart and struggling to find somewhere where they're all entitled to be together, and sad that it wont be the place that they chose to make their lives
