We had a record-breaking 72% of the population take part :)

Our sovereignty will be restored

The first General Election in decades that will truly be about how the country is governed

MPs will be directly held accountable

We can plan a proper strategy for immigration and allocate resources to avoid overloading services

We can have a fair immigration strategy

We can be more versatile and responsive to world economic changes

We can decide how to spend our national resources

House prices are projected to fall meaning more people will be able to first time buy

There will be downward pressure on prices of goods as import terms (we buy more in than we sell out) can be negotiated directly with UK

There will be inward investment as many manufacturers will prefer a UK base rather than their current EU base

What other positives are there?

Would this occur though - surely manufacturers will want an eu base if theres going to be trade sanctions / uncertainty about trade agreements in the future?

Reduced immigration is going to increase your labour costs surely?

I'm thrilled by the result. There may well be short term pain but I believe it is the best decision in the long run.

I'm really looking forward to the price of my house dropping.

Farming will undergo a revolution - the days of 80 year olds being paid £50000 a year in subsidies to do bob all will be over, and we will have more control over low welfare imports from the EU.

Stock market is plummeting and pound crashing to a 30 year low already - yes brexit fools its good to ignore experts.

Where to begin?

We never lost our sovereignty - that was a lie
There won't be a general election for another four years - at which point it will be about how bad our economy is
If we sign up to similar agreements as Norway and Switzerland which is what the brexit fools argued for we will have to follow EU immigration rules as they do - you were lied to and believed it
We had the best trade deal in Europe - perhaps the world. Not any more - there's a reason every business warned against it.
Wow we get 19 billion back - pity conservative predictions are for a 3% drop in GDP amounting to 60 billion
Hard to first time buy in a recession with no jobs available. hard to sell in a recession with negative equity and no jobs available.
Lala land to think investors will come here rather than the EU - many business already planning their move out of the UK and into the EU.

Bunch of lemmings just voted to jump off a cliff due to being sold a pack of lies (Farage admitting on TV this morning they lied).

The days of British companies relocating to the continent with EU money will be over. No one seems to think of all the tens of thousands of people who have ALREADY lost jobs and livelihoods due to the EU.

Yes - the pound is crashing in value already! What joy Smile

Maybe we can all enjoy the rise in food prices and the next recession. I can hardly wait, it's all soooo exciting

Anyone listening to Farage is very misguided.
He's in no position of power - at all. He's not even an MP, he's just another campaigner.

It's like me promising that Sainsburys will give all mumsnetters 50% off today.

How are house prices going to fall? Houses are still in short supply and interest rates are likely to go down. I honestly don't understand how that would happen.

Great result result, this country will now be in charge of its own future. I think there will be more equality and we can be a more open country without feeling we are being forced into it.

Well it would be great if there was a vote of no confidence in the government, an election was called, and people who now realise they have a voice vote for LABOUR! Unfortunately I've already noticed BBC are spreading the rumour that Corbyn should resign so any hope of a truly left wing Labour Party would then be gone. Maybe Andy Burnham would be ok though.

Unless the Bank of England has to push up interest rates to curb rising inflation which will increase the cost of mortgages substantially. Mind you that would give you a few repossessions to choose from.

How will we have control over immigration? You understand we will probably have to keep free movement as part of any trade deal?

But we won't have the safety net of the European court of human rights - and a right wing government so that's nice

LOL what has Labour got to do with it? They are just a protest party and until they get a new leader wouldn't know how to run a children's birthday party.

Fuzzy
Prices will fall if there is less confidence in the market. People put off moving and buying because they are not feeling financially secure or may loose their jobs. Others put off buying waiting for the market to fall which is in itself a self fulfilling prophecy.

A 60% vote to leave in my area, who would have thought I was surrounded by so many er, libertarians?

Report
fuzzywuzzy · 24/06/2016 09:26

Right but if people are put off selling then there are fewer houses on the market and supply still won't meet demand so those houses on the market will attract a higher price not the other way round as there are so few on the market?

Unless one is hoping for an influx of houses whose owners have lost jobs and defaulted on their mortgages so are being sold by lenders.

I'm glad that my children will most likely lose the automatic right to live and work in the European Union.

I'm glad that far right parties in Europe are celebrating the outcome of this referendum, because that's always a good sign, isn't it?

House price falls will bring back the grim reality of negative equity. So even if people want to move they won't necessarily be able to. Yes, house prices might fall but that will probably hurt as many as it helps.

I think its fair that vote leavers feel happy with the result

However, there should be some humility in it, and some acknowledgement of the fact that it will devastate others.

Some people don't have the capacity to "weather a temporary low for a (perceived) long term gain" - because some people are already at breaking point, and cannot "tighten your belts temporarily" because

Some families will be torn apart and struggling to find somewhere where they're all entitled to be together, and sad that it wont be the place that they chose to make their lives

Yes, of course Leavers can rejoice but its about how you do it, as with any win/victory
