There is a lot of talk about red tape and barriers from the Brexit side, but very little thought about what it actually means. I know that the above piece won't sway anyone who has their mind made up, but I hope it will help those who are undecided and put off by the rhetoric on both sides

clicky link - thank you yes that is an interesting article (but long!)

Unfortunately I doubt many people on the Leave side will bother to read it.

Aye, we're all thickos.

I know what the EU is, thanks. I'm still voting Leave.

Why are Remain people so bloody condescending? It hardly endears people to your cause.

Nobody used that language but yourself, WellEr.

You clearly haven't read many referendum threads Widow.

I'm voting leave, ten GCSE's first class degree successful business owner personally I've given it a lot of thought and yes I do bother to read but hey keep up the patronising mud slinging that will sway me

Nice comments WellErrr. You can see by the OP that the thread wasn't aimed at those who have decided one way or the other so why comment?

But that's been my experience of many Leave voters....nasty snippy comments even when not required. You are a prime example.

It's just the point of view from one person. Not sure why that would sway Leavers.

Report
Alfieisnoisy · 19/06/2016 07:58

It's not meant to "sway" you Lightening the OP said that in the OP. it's for those undecided.

Do feel free to start a thread to persuade the undecideds to leave though.

I have a degree too and have read widely and am voting Remain.

I am sick to death of this Referendum and want it over and done with as then people might start talking to each other with some civility again.

Alfie'it was an impassioned plea by someone desperate to remain! Not sure why you think it is neutral piece?

Report
Alfieisnoisy · 19/06/2016 07:59

i despair at supposedly intelligent folk who cannot read the OP. it's not aimed at swaying the Leave voters but the Undecided.

Start your own thread to sway them to Leave.

wellerr - surely no one said you were a thicko, the statement just said it was unlikely that many people who've decided to leave would read a long article entitled Why we should vote remain! So did you read it?

Report
Alfieisnoisy · 19/06/2016 08:01

It's not meant to be a neutral post....the OP says quite openly it's aimed at the Undecided voters. Again if that bothers you then start your own thread to persuade them to leave.

you can see by the OP that the thread wasn't aimed at those who have decided one way or the other so why comment?

My reply was clearly to the second poster. I'm getting a bit fed up of all the thinly veiled condescension and sneering to those voting Leave.

Report
WellErrr · 19/06/2016 08:06

It's entitled 'Why you should vote Remain.'

Not sure how you can interpret that as neutral.....Grin

Report
SanityClause · 19/06/2016 08:31

Sorry, WellErr. Can you point me to the poster who has suggested the article is neutral?

The OP has specifically mentioned that they hope undecided people will read it. They have stated that they don't expect people who definitely intend to vote Leave to be swayed by it. (As indeed, it appears you are not.)

Confused

If voting leave doesn't make you thick not reading posts well enough makes you thick. GrinHmm

It's a shame it isn't an impartial version, rather than a 'remain' polemic.

Report
WidowWadman · 19/06/2016 10:12

Have you read it? Not being impartial does make it polemic.

Indeed, VikingVolva. I have read it along with very many other reports/ articles, both pro and anti. It hasn't changed my mind but as you say, it's not intended to but is for those who may be undecided.

The EU isn't democratic. Their parliament doesn't even have an opposition.
