My work has started quietly drawing up contingency plans for if Brexit happens. Same at DH's work. Could mean lots of jobs moving to Germany and Ireland at both our firms. We're already seeing far fewer people investing or spending money.

I'm bloody terrified. Could lose my job. House could end up in negative equity. And for what?

I don't even think it's "project fear" from the government anymore... News today showed investors are taking money out of the UK faster than anytime since the crash. People with "skin in the game" voting with their money.

I understand that for lots of people the EU referendum isn't about money. however, because of a lot of it leaving, stopping coming in, or just simply being worth less... Well that leaves us screwed for a very long time. Fewer jobs. Less tax money coming in - so less money for the NHS and so on. So even if we 'take back control', of what exactly. what will we be 'in control' of?

I'm really worried about "Leave" happening and me and my family being utterly f*ed in a few months time as a result. Has the country lost its mind?

Anyone else worried about where this leaves us?

Yes I'm concerned. People seem to be blaming things on the EU when they should in fact be blaming the government eg. underfunding of the NHS.

Me. I'm worried because of all the people who don't care about leaving that won't vote.

I don't know how leaving would affect me or mine personally. I just don't want it to happen.

I don't want some of those awful, dreadful people (yes, I know they're not all awful, but the ones who are really are) to get their way.

I realised last night that I'm worried about how I won't take an exit vote personally. I'm not an British citizen, I work in the public sector and everyone around me with very few exceptions is voting Out. If the result of the referendum is Out I feel a bit like those colleagues are sticking two fingers up at me (even though I know they don't perceive me as non-British as I've been here almost my entire life and have a localish accent!). Trying to get my head around that at the mo.

Also fretting about remortgaging within the next 12 months, regretting not doing it already even if the exit fees would have been crippling - the alternatives next year may be even more so.

I'm very concerned. So many people I thought were sensible are voting brexit for seemingly stupid reasons. I just can't get my head around it. There are so many good reasons to stay in and so many terrifying unknowns if we leave. Brexiters just can't seem to get their heads round the fact that leaving will fuck up peoples lives. Jobs will go, families will struggle, house prices will likely fall, our exchange rate will be buggered etc.

We won't need all those immigrants though because there won't be any jobs for anyone. No fucker will want to relocate here if we leave.

I am not worried at all, I am excited we are going to get our democracy back. We can make our own laws, control UK borders, control our fishing waters, save billions in EU fees we can spend on the UK & we will finally have accountable leaders to the British people rather than EU leaders who don't care about UK interests & Brits can't vote out

Get out and vote. Encourage every Remainer you know to vote (obviously they can vote how they want when it comes down to the actual act of voting). A high turnout (imho) is better for Remain despite most of the noise being from Leave.

britbrit If you think they will start listening to us if we vote out I suspect you are in for a shock. The EU do a lot of great things for us. They invest in our towns and cities, they pass laws which have helped clean up our environment and ensure workers are paid fairly and treated fairly as well as many human rights laws.

The government on the other hand has introduced sky high tuition fees for students, slashed disability benefit and fucked over thousands of disabled and vulnerable people.

The EU provide a safety net in my opinion and that's not even touching on how free movement in the EU creates so many jobs in this country, how coming out will affect our economy etc.

BritBrit: The laws that have been made in the last few years have made our lives worse. Making our own laws will mean (particularly as Scotland will vote to leave the UK) that we will support Rupert Murdoch to take over England, repeal human rights, destroy the environment (Gove wants unlimited fishing as his family business was fishing). People voted in Hitler & Putin - democracy is not perfect. Having the checks and balances of the rest of the UK and the EU (which we do vote for) has been very successful over the last decades

This - fair play to the Tories for turning the nation into closet right wingers. It starts off with austerity, (even Labour bought into that crap), then we need to cut services, then there are only scroungers and grafters.

Now its the immigrants fault that employers pay crap wages and the pressures on services.

That the government isn't increasing services in line with tax receipts seems completely lost on people. So yes many of you exiters just put your hand up and be honest as to why you voting.

People talk about the EU's lack of democracy (though we won over 90% of votes on things) the costs (no rebate acceptance etc) but to me more and more this is just window dressing.

I think Leave is the sensible choice. The Euro is crippling most of Southern Europe, and the one-size-fits-all EU economic and political model quite obviously doesn't fit the great majority. More poorer countries will be joining, resulting in more of the richer countries' money going to them while they send their youth unemployment problem back in return.

The EU is failing miserably. Why would we want to continue along that path of destruction?

Me too. I found out at the weekend that my mother is voting out, and I never would have expected it. She sounded like Nigel Farage when she was talking about it. How has my mother turned into Nigel bloody Farage??

to repeat what was being said before the previous thread closed, I am getting very worried about what will happen after Brexit.

when 2, 3 years pass and the UK is still embroiled in exit negotiations, when immigration actually increases in the meantime because all the potential immigrants want to get in while they still can, when public services and cuts get even worse because the economy is reeling...

all the anti-immigrant Leave voters will get more frustrated and angrier, will blame immigrants instead of their own referendum choice, and we will see a rise in extreme right wing, intolerant language and demands.

I don't think we should be voting on this in the first place, actually. The more I hear, the more I think this. It was just because Cameron was afraid of losing the last election, that we are in this mess. It will be a very great pity if leave wins, the only saving grace is that Cameron will be off as soon as it happens.
