Recycling Xmas rubbish

As in wrapping paper/toy packaging etc
Do you sort as you unwrap or put in a pile for later?

I put all the paper and cardboard into big bags for the paper recycling. We have a bin for this, but there's too much so we take it to the local centre. Not on Christmas day obviously. Then all the plastic gets put in another bag, bottles etc also get sorted.

Just thinknig it would be easier to unwrap and put into a bag/box but can I have various boxes round the room on Xmas day????

I just have a big bin bag, which sits down by the side of the sofa, and as each one is unwrapped, i ppull off any ribbon or bows, and stick the paper in the bag! Sometimes it piles up a bit, but i find it just keeps the floor clutter free!

We usually just have a bin bag but am trying to make sure everything is recycled this year!

My mum and gran truly recycled, they carefully unwrapped then folded every sheet of paper, triming off any sellotape or torn paper. Reused next year.

I used to do this when I still lived at mums as she visibley flinched if you ripped off the paper. I think I may go back to doing this myself. But I will have a bag for paper and one for polythene to hand on Christmas morning.

Can you recycle polystyrene, seem to get loads but don't get it uplifted, recycle centre take it???

I have done that before with b'day paper,from those people who use decent stuff that doesn't rip as soon as you touch it!

I save all the nice gift bags from birthdays.

Bin bag for paper as they rip.
Cardboard in the largest box, flattened ready for the recycling centre.
Anything else unrecyclable is binned
My aim every year is to be tidy of rubbish/packaging by lunchtime, never managed it yet.

We have to be clear by lunch time as livingroom and dining combined.

We have black bags ready to stuff it into as they unwrap.

If the room is getting overrun with paper, they stop unwrapping and have to help a bit.

Why should we do it all?

My partner is always moaning that he spends most of the day recycling!!!!

I have masses of gift bags now to re-use!
Won't have to do as much wrapping this year
