bit of a long shot but wondered if anyone had done this?
Have vaguely considered it for a while as much greener than cremation and I hate the whole funeral/graveyard thing with a passion.
We are lucky enough to have an eight acre field that we have planted as new british woodland, its still sticks really but it is Dhs baby. I think I would like us to be buried there. we could leave it equally to our children so no worries about blighting the property price etc.
Having researched it looks decepetively simple, the environment agency leaflet basically says that if you can meet the requirements (mainly not near a water source) you dont even need to contact the council!
Just cant believe its that easy, wondered if anyone had gone down that route for a relative?

Don't know anyone who has done this, but it sounds like you have the ideal situation to do it. It's something I would consider if I was in your situation.

I would have thought it illegal to be honest. I'm fairly sure there's really strict conditions for burials.

you can do it. there was something in the press earlier this year about a man who had his wife buried in the back garden.

A man in our village got buried in his garden, his son told me they had to sign something to say that the house would stay in the family for a certain amount of years.
Someone posted a house on here from Rightmove a few weeks ago and the couple were buried in the garden.

Gallicgirl, that's the thing, I would have thought the same but having looked it up it seems not, which I can't quite believe.

www.salford.gov.uk/funeral-burial-on-private-land.htm

I've never buried a relative my own land, as I don't have much, sorry, but the about link is very informative.
