Can anyone suggest a humane way of getting rid of slugs, please?

Thanks to a midnight raid, I have a (small) bucketful of slugs, awaiting disposal.

Can anyone suggest what to do with them?
Please?

I used to drop them into salty water. Now I just stamp on them. Instant death, makes the path a bit slippy.

put them out again, somewhere away from you though, hedgehogs will eat them

How long can I leave them in the bucket for? Should I put something in there for them to eat until I can drive to the middle of a remote field and leave them there?

I'm over-thinking this, I know. But I am crap at killing anything (except mosquitoes and ticks).

I have been dropping them off in a field nearby. I should have marked them though to see if the same ones make their way back.... grin grin
