Could you use the iPhone charger? The actual plug bit? That's just standard USB isn't it?

Thanks both, it arrived today so I'm going to try charging it via the laptop and go from there.

Mine came with a USB charger and a normal plug charger.

You can also buy just a mains plug that has a USB socket which is cheap and easy especially if you only have 1 USB socket on your laptop, or like me have anIpad, iPhone and other stuff plugged in all at once!

Your kindle should come with a cable that has a micro usb connector at one end, and a regular usb connector at the other end. You plus the micro usb into the kindle and the regular usb end into your computer, or into a usb charger plug. I use the one that came with my iphone, and we have a spare that we bought from an electronic store.

You get a lead to charge it thru your computer using the USB port. You can buy a separate mains charger if you would prefer it.
