I'm considering a career in commissioning and i've got an interview in a couple of weeks for a joint commissioning officer role (substance misue). I think I would really enjoy commissioning, but i've a few concerns/queries and wondered if there were any commissioners out there who can help? Most of the work seems to be on fairly short contracts - how easy is it to find work when your contract ends, and is it fairly recession proof? Also, how easy is to move up from an officer to a manager? I'm a bit hesitant as i've got my baby girl to think of now and i'm not sure if it would be too much of a risk to take on a 12 month contract when i'm in a stable (but very dull) job now. Any advice would be much appreciated.
