Quite nervous about this. He should find out around 10:30/11:00 and I've asked him to text me.

No real reason for this post except anxiety ...

Oh no I am so sorry you are going through this. We had the same thing a few weeks ago - the worry is just awful isn't it?

Stay on MN, talk through your options if it goes the wrong way. I really, really hope it doesn't.

[everything crossed, even my eyes]

thank you!

He is remarkably sanguine about it but I know he will feel the strain badly if he ends up with no job. I am three days a week just now -- doubt my work would offer me more hours though. Things are tight everywhere of course.

Greensneeze, was it OK for you?

Yes, he escaped the redundancy - but was lied to throughout the consultation process, and then once it was too late a load of changes in duties/20% salary cut was suddenly announced. We're sort of wishing he'd taken voluntary redundancy now

but we will be OK - I really feel for the people who lost their jobs. It's horrible.

for you.

It is horrid. A well-regarded colleague of DP's who is blind, and who works to support herself and her unemployed, also blind, twin sister, with whom she lives, recently got the chop. So clearly the honchos are feeling ruthless.

Annoyingly, although DP has worked there for about 7 years, he was a contractor for the first 5.5 of those so his redundancy payments (if he loses his job) will be quite small.
