Sicknote and holiday query - I can't think straight about it!

Hi, I have been off work poorly since November, and am expecting to go back after Easter, this is what I have been advised to do, so I have a Doctor's appointment to get another sick note. My current one ends this Friday

I have already discussed, with work and my doctor, for a phased return.

So, by them saying Easter, I would assume after bank hol Monday. But i would have been off on hol that week cos the dc are on school hol.

I don't think the doc will give me a note to cover the holiday (so in effect I wouldn't need to use my hol, and could save it). So do I get a note to end on bank hol mon, and then take a week hol? And then go back to work the week after?

But the other thing is that the doc wants me (ideally) to go back at the end of the week. But again I don't think she will sign me off for 5.5 weeks, to go back on say, a Thursday.

Sorry but I can't get my brain to work out the best thing to do. Hav ebeen off 21 weeks now (anxiety). can anyone help. And if my sick note ends, can i have hol straight after, or am I due straight back in work then?

When you say you 'would have been off', do you mean you have holiday booked in for that week? Or just that you would have been planning to take that time off as holiday if possible.

Your doctor will give you a note up to the time she thinks you are fit to go back to work, and it sounds as though she will give you a note to end the week before (as presumably you get bank holiday off anyway), and then whether you choose to take the following week off as holiday is between you and your employer. If you haven't got it booked off already, whether they allow you to do that is completely up to them.

yes I have it booked. I just don't know whether a holiday can follow a sick note ending?

As I say, whether they allow you to take holiday straight after a sick note ending is up to your employer. Obviously the fact that you already have it booked helps, but you just need to contact them and make sure it's still fine.
