Arrrghhhh, I hate my job, rant warning....

I have posted a while ago about how hideous my big boss/company is when it comes to flexibility and being family friendly. My big boss appears to have a massive issue with me and every little thing I do is an issue.

My DD has been really poorly since starting nursery and I have had to take a reasonable amount of time off due to this, even though I am not paid for this time I work from home and do quite a lot. However, my big boss ambushed me with a meeting about my attendance that I was given no warning about and she left the meeting giving me no clear points of action as to how she would like me to handle things moving forward. I followed this up on email and still haven't heard anything back over a month later. She hates the fact I work PT (4 days) and refuses to pro rata any of my targets or key performance indicators.

We have redundancies potentially coming up soon and I just know that I am going to be top of the bloody list and I am so as I genuinely enjoy my job (despite it being really tough at the moment). I am not the only person who has an issue with her, she is exceptionally poor at downward management but very good at upwardly managing our board of directors.

I am at my wits end, I am going to have to find something else as I dread going to work but the market is so bad that I don't think it is going to be easy.

Not sure what I hope to achieve by posting this as there is nothing I can do, just needed to get it off my chest. Oh and DP has been put on redundancy consultation and told asked to take a 10% pay cut today

SO sorry that its crap for you right now.

Are you in a union at all? Or could you gt some support advice from sothing like that? Its hard, especially when you are working from home but not being paid for kids sick days.

Our dd's health imporved as she'd been at nursery longer. Does your partner have same diffiuclties taking time off wof child illness. Me and DH share this time.

DP does split the time with me, they still have issue with me taking ANY time off. No union and they made our HR dept redundant last year so really no options in terms of speaking to anyone.

How long did it take for your DD's health to improve? My DD has been at nursery for six months and it doesn't seem to be getting better!

Thats dreadful. What about some kind of emplyment advice thing hmmmm... will have a look into it as my DH works in that type of thing.

Six months seems a long time. Just colds etc or other things? DD had many snuffles and 3 or 4 tummy bugs over 4 months or so but not costantly.

Your boss is being a cow bag.

What are rights int erms of children being ill?

you're allowed a certain amount of time off as parental leave. not sure how much that is though. sorry that's probably not a great help.

Oooh will def call number on first link, thanks mumble.

I am legally entitled to time off but this seems to have escaped my management! DD had pneumonia, bronchiolitis, chicken pox, conjunctivitis x 3 and at the moment has Rotavirus and has been off all week - hideous. I just have to hold on to the hope that her immune system will be amazing when she is bigger

Feels better just writing everything down, can't talk to DP about it really as he is so worried about his job.

yummymummyjobs.com offers ideas and suggestions on working from home and perhaps offering a way forward

As much as those work from home opportunities sound nice, I need a salaried job to keep the wolf from the door.

Have done at least half a days work today and still working so going to tentatively suggest they pay me half a day as a gesture for all the stuff I have done from home this week.
