Claiming Child Benefit before child is born...........

Can somebody out there please help me!

I have definitely read on one of the threads on mumsnet that as from April 2009, we can claim for child benefit from something like 26 or 29 weeks pregnant......I am trying to find out more about this.

Can anyone help??

The government have brought out a health in pregnancy grant.....its £190. the government originally glossed it up as Child benefit before baby born. you can get a form from midwife from 25 wks.

I do remember the link about child benefit from 29wks but dont know who or where it was from
was seperate to the health grant

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the health is pregnancy grant is what you are thinking of.

In the 2006 Pre-Budget Report, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that, in recognition of the importance of a healthy diet during pregnancy, from April 2009 every mother-to-be would be eligible for Child Benefit from the 29th week of her pregnancy. Treasury Ministers subsequently decided that provision should be payable as a new single payment called the Health in Pregnancy Grant.

thanks for all the replies!
I did already know about the health in pregnancy grant, so i was surprised when i read about the child benefit too..... i just need to track down where i read about it...... i will post a link here if/when i find it!!!!

There was mention back in 2006 about this, but AFAIK it has been replaced with the health in pregnancy grant.
