DH, the DSs and I are all really ill but DH has been told 'it won't go down too well' if he doesn't go in

DH is working nights and was very ill last night. I am really ill today as are the DSs. I mean really ill (mning from bed cannot move) DH rung work and told there wqas no cover (there never is - he had to do a 24 hour shift in Sept. once and still hasn't been paid for it . Basically the manager would have to come in (as the buck stops with him) and the supervisor has told DH and said it won't go down too well. As in he HAS to come in or there will be repercussions. DH is going for sort of a promotion too so we have no idea what to do. He has had holidays cancelled by them due to no cover and has bend over backwards for them but I think this is just taking the mick. He doesn't get paid for sick either so it shows how ill he is that he is willing to take a loss, but the guy who has said this is friends with the next step up and gets paid. WHat can we do?

Unfortunately in light of current climate and DH being up for promotion i think he's going to have to go in.

Hopefully Ds's will sleep ok and you'll get some rest.

Would also recommend DH starts looking for another job although i know thats easier said than done.

Hope you all feel better soon.

I've felt dreadful since saturday and DH was in US on business and got home yesterday jet-lagged. Most annoying. Afraid there's been too much cbeebies in the house this half-term but i just feel too hideous to do much else.

hate the way they say jump & he has to ask how high. DS fell asleep, I am in for a night of it and DH is really ill. Sorry having a rant - so pissed off they threatened him.

I think its utterly crap they threatened him and am shocked he gets no sick pay. Some employers are just so bad.

Is there any chance of him finding another job elsewhere? I would suspect that if/when he gets promoted his working life won't improve that much - they'll probably just pile on more pressure.

He loves this job aside from all this. He would never earn the same elsewhere either even if he found a similar (scarce) job.
