Disgraced myself at work function last night....how can I patch things up with my boss on Monday?

Hiya girls,

This is the situation I'm faced with: last night I went out on a work-organised night out with some of my work colleagues and I had a bit too much to drink. To cut a long story short, I started doing cartwheels all over the place thinking it was funny (not remembering at the time that I was wearing a skirt and just about everyone could see my knickers) and as I'd just about finished being silly, to my horror, my boss' fiancée (she's the second in command at the company I work for) started staring at me and shouted 'I'll tell (my boss') that you like flashing your knickers, shall I?" (the fact is she shouldn't have been there at all, as the evening was organised for us work colleagues, not her or her fiancé (i.e. my boss) Then, to make matters worse, I realised I needed the loo; I hadn't gone before we left the club, I was bursting to go and ended up weeing in my knickers, and she saw all this from a distance (I hitched my skirt up, hoping to pull them down, but didn't make it in time)...I just don't know how I'm going to face my boss on Monday now that his fiancée has seen me in this light - she will have no doubt told him everything by now... Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Chloe x

I would suggest not drinking so much in future.

Ithappened outside of work and unless it has some impact on your job i can't see why you need to do anything but apologise for the embarrassment.

You seem to be annoyed that the fiance was there? surely you should feel ashamed of your behaviour no matter who saw it.

OMG did you actually pee your pants?

erm
well on her part threatening to tell your boss was petty and childish - why did she want to do that particularly?
I think you'll need to guage on Monday whether she has done. If you think she has, ask to see him, explain you had more than you intended to drink, and that you made a fool of yourself and apologise for doing that at an official work do. Assure him it was a one off and it won't affect your performance or dedication.
Well that;s the sensible thing to do...personally I would keep my head down and hope he doesn't know until it's all blown over!
If I heard this about one of the people I manage I'd be slightly surprised but wouldn't really think anything of it in work terms - as long as they didn't let it affect their work then I would conclude it was none of my business.

No advice, but you've made me laugh.

Was it an official workdo? or just a night oput with people from work?
If the second then I don't think you owe him any explanation - if he asks just say you had more than you intended to drink and you'd rather not discuss it
And be prpeared for any sick days to be scrutinsed for the next year or so

HRH Saint Mamazon - I was annoyed she was there because if she hadn't been, I wouldn't have ended up in this mess. However, I have flashed my knickers once before on a night out (did a handstand and it went wrong).
pipsqueak - Yes, very embarrassingly I did and I'm not at all proud of it ...
StealthPolarBear - Because he's her fiancé and she's never liked me at all. We just don't see eye to eye, let´s put it that way.

but she didn't make you do cartwheels or piss yourself.

Yes, unfortunately for me...if it hadn't have been, I wouldn't be at all worried now.

Well to be fair, you can't blame her for your handstands and peeing your pants.

Just make sure you're really professional at work this week. If you really want, go in to him first thing monday morning and say what a fool you made of yourself and you don't intend for it to hppen again.

Then make sure you don't flash your pants again.

Work dos are a strange thing. Although they are out of work time an employer remains responsible to ensure that employees are safe and not discriminated against (ie, cabs home, no racist/sexual abuse.

Not sure if it works in reverse, though. ie. an employee retains certain responsibilities.

I'm sure someone will be along soon who does know.

aah chloe - you need to get one of your friendly colleagues to restrain your acrobatic adventurs when out on a work thrash

BUt as I was pretty drunk, I thought doing a cartwheel would be fun (even though I was wearing a skirt and the consequences that entails - i.e. everyone gets to see your knickers) and I wet myself because I couldn't hold on any longer.

This is the way to deal with it. DO NOT DRINK FOR THE REST OF THIS WEEKEND and do face masks/beauty treatments.

Make sure you look the dogs bollocks on Monday morning and walk in with your head up high and say this 'Morning all, who is buying breakfast/coffee/donuts' today or shall we all talk about me being drunk. Everyone will be impressed with your balls and buy you brekky anyway.

Good luck.

which had you drank responsibly you wouldn't have.

Unless the fiance was cghucking shots down yoru throat and then restraining you so you couldn't get to the toilet, it really wasn't her fault.

It's not so bad. If it's brought up, say what pps have said, otherwise just keep your head down.

And look on the bright side, last year my DP went on his Christmas night out, got horrifically drunk, tried to go home on his own, collapsed outside in a puddle cutting his head open and very nearly died of hypothermia. So it's not THAT bad. And he did get a promotion that same month.

I know I shouldn't laugh because it is so disgraceful but lololol.

Must admit, am quite impressed you can do cartwheels.

ok so next plan
a) wear trousers when planning to get pissed
b) sit yourself RIGHT in the middle of a round table against the wall so you can't get out
c) when you go to the loo, count to 10 (a long ten) AFTER you think you've finished (i.e. while still sitting down). When pissed, you tend to wee long after you think you've finished.

I wouldn't say anything. If it gets mentioned just say something like 'oh I let my hair down a bit, was probably a bit silly, won't be doing that again'....

Go in and be your normal self. Then appologise to anyone you offended in private.

Then if they take the pee {sorry no pun intended} just laugh it off. If others know you are bothered they will make more of it.

Laugh it off basically.

HRH Saint Mamazon - no, she wasn't, but as I was in such a state, even pulling my knickers down to go for a wee was too difficult, hence the end result

MP will cover the cartwheels for you if you can't make the mnet do.

I'm sure she could wet herself, too.
