Any make up artists out there?

I am currently studying a part time Fashion and Photographic make up course and just wondering how to get into the industry after seein as its so competitive?
I will prob do private weddings and occasions etc,but after a bit of experience would love to work on music videos and tv shows like strictly come dancing for example.
