Redundancy whilst pregnant - SMP ?

Am hoping somebody can point me in the direction of a link to print please.

I'm pretty sure once you get past a certain date in the pregnancy and are made redundant you still get SMP. A friend asked me and I said I thought this was the case but cant find anything when looking.

I had DS 5 years ago and all the info I had i threw away (I wasn't chosen) and will probably be out of date anyway.

Its after the start of your "Qualifying week", which is 15 weeks before the week in which you are due to give birth. Below is a link to the HMRC guide for employers:

www.hmrc.gov.uk/helpsheets/2002/e15sd.pdf

Its also got a chart you can use to look up your expected date, and it will show 15 weeks before.

You don't have to stay in employment at all to get SMP - it doesn't have to be a redundancy situation.

As long as you have met the qualifications by earning enough and being employed long enough by the qualifying week, you have earned your SMP and you can then resign if you want to and you still get it.

Here basic stuff about qualifying for SMP.
