Pension question

According to my contract, my employer is supposed to match my contributions into my pension. On my pension statement for 2007 I discovered they weren't doing this and haven't been for about the past 4/5 years! So I informed them and it has taken them a year to finally increase their payment to match my contributions (it's only 2% but it's better than nowt) was just wondering what right I have to ask them to put the 'back' payments into my pension aswell IYSWIM??

Yes, almost certainly if it's in your contract that they will.

The fly in the ointment might be that you are probably out of time for a tribunal claim (v cheap to do) and would need to do a high court claim (v. expensive and you have to pay your employer's costs if you lose).

The good news is that employers are scared of pension fights. I would put in a specific email asking for back payment and see what happens.

Thanks - I can't believe they haven't realised / mentioned it. I'll email them and see what they say can't see why they would say no really! I still work for them so woulsn't want to claim!

Yes absolutely phoebe, that's terrible. Over 4-5 years that's a lot of money.

Definitely put in an email to whoever (not an administrator, someone fairly senior) to get this sorted.
