Why can't I get a job?

I'm a married professional woman aged 36 with a great CV and have been looking for work for months and months. Can't even get an interview. I'm reluctant to put it down to being a woman of childbearing age, but I can't think what else it could be. Am I the only one in this situation?

Do you have children? Shouldn't matter. Job market is very tight at moment from my experience.
Are you looking in right places ? Can you get foot in other ways? Go to places and chat?

What kind of jobs have you been applying to?

Are you applying for jobs that you are qualified for? How long since you last worked?

Last worked properly before mat leave, made redundant about a week after I returned. I'm applying for all the jobs in my field (telly) - there aren't that many in my specialism. Re qualifications for these jobs I'd say mostly yes.

are you writing the right things on application forms/letters? i work in a completely different sector (public) and if applicants don't put the 'correct' stuff in then they don't get intereviewed, no matter how good i think they may be as their potential manager.

have you called the companies that you've applied to and asked for feedback why you haven't been given an interview?

good luck

No help or advice to offer, but just wanted to let you know that I am in the same position at the moment, so no you're not alone.

It's very frustrating isn't it.
