I currently work in retail, as in sales assistant on the shop floor and have zero sales experience. I'm 22 and not very ballsy at times but want to push myself (after mat leave, obviously) into a sales world. Is there a hope in hell for me, and can you recommend where I start?

Hi, Can I recommend that you find a local careers service and get an in depth consultation on your options, requirements, retraining, abilities etc.

Sometimes you do have to be ballsy for sales, but not always, quite often a more natural and relaxed approach works better, depends on the sector and culture of the company.

Hope in Hell??? Yes of course, but it is about being realistic and setting some parameters for your search. You need to answer some questions like how much you want to earn, hours, environment, progression etc before you can narrow down the types of job you want to do.

There are a lot of online tests (some free - avoid the pay ones) and I do think that local careers services offer some of their own, that help you narrow down the types of jobs and roles to go for.

It is hard to be specific on this, but good luck with your search, hope you find what you are looking for.
