thanks to everyone who answered my last thread. Now have another question. The job I am applying for is 37.5 hours per week. I do my current FT job in 30 hours per week over 3 days. (It was a 35 hour a week job before mat leave).I negotiated this with my current employer on return from mat leave and it works v well. I do 3 long days but get two days off. I would like a similar arrangement again but appreciate 3 days might be too much to ask for.. I do not want to return to 5 days so would turn down job if taht was only option. My question is, when should I bring up the fact that I only want to work four days a week (say 32-34 hours over 4 days) - at the interview? or once offered the job?? (assuming I get it). I think it is more honest to say at interview but this might scupper any chance i have. What do you all think?

Hi molly

I wouldn't wait until offered the job, if it's not a possibility at all that could be very irritating for the employer. It's something I'd probably consider raising at a second interview - once you've got them 'hooked' a bit, they like you, you're exploring the post in more detail. If it's on your cv how you are working currently it shouldn't be a huge surprise to them anyway I wouldn't have thought.

Good luck with it!

Alternatively if you're applying through an agency, you could ask the recruitment consultant their opinion on how likely it is?
