P/T and temp jobs

I need some advice if my idea of P/T and Tempory jobs is feasable.
I have been working F/T since having my DD2, but I was thinking when DD2 starts full time school, I might move jobs, but I want a job that I can have time off, even if it is unpaid. I know I could try to find a job in schools, but, I would like to choose to have or not to have the time off.
That is why I thought that may be part/time and temping might be possible.
I don't know if any MN would know if it is possible to do p/t and temp. My experience is in accounts.

I've been a temp for years and have had time off to have my daughter (and got maternity pay which was no mean feat). It is possible depending on what the agencies have to offer. A lot of companies use tempory staff with a view of keeping the on perm. If you don't want this you can tell them so. Plus points about temping and having time off are you aren't contracted to the company you are working for only the agency who would probably let you have unpaid leave... the down side is you may miss out on a wonderful job because of your restrictions... i know a lot of unpaid leave whilst on a long term placement with a company would be unprofessional so they would probably let you go.
Could you go self employed? I'm assuming it's school holidays which are causing the problem?

Hi BurpyErnie,
Well it's not the school holidays, as my DDs spent the holidays in Spain with my family, (I am spanish living in UK). The thing is, that with my actual job, which I have been working for almost 10 years, it is very difficult to have holidays when the kids can. I work in accounts and every 4 or 5 weeks, there is 1 1/2 weeks that I can't have holday, if you add up the restrictions on taking the kids out of the school to go on holidays, it leaves very few days on where to ask for holdays.
And, I don't know for how long my parents will be able to look after my DDs in the summer, and I don't want to stop spending the summer in Spain, as it is almost the only chance my DDs have to get involve completely with catalan and spanish language.
I probably could go self-employed, I think I am just scared to do the jump. It is a possibility, defenetely something to look into it.
Thank you for the advice.
