Non family friendly work

Sorry everyone, I really needed a little rant about work, I hope that's ok. I work at a large IT company and I know it's a very male dominated field, even still. But I've been there for 7 years and it's the worse it has ever been regarding the family friendly side of things. I suppose that's not surprising as two directors at our work have had babies and come back into the office a little over a month after having them, now barely see them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having nanny's and if am lucky enough to get pregnant then I will be one day going back to work, it does make me wonder with people who go back almost straight away like these ladies did what the purpose of having children was for them? Surely a baby needs its mother at least for the first few months. I'm sorry if my view is very old fashioned or if I have upset anyone by this view. I'm going through IVF and although there are a handful of people I trust to know about it at work I feel like I am looked down upon for wanting a family at this company as they will expect me to take a year off (which I will be if I can) and it annoys me in today's day and age that women can still be made to feel this way when we have two directors giving such a negative message to any mums to be or planning mums to be. I can't even tell my HR the truth and so I feel like I need to walk on eggshells just because our company is still so male dominated and the women who have done well are showing us ladies we must choose what is important to us, a family or work. If we do get pregnant and I have everything crossed, I have no intention of ever going back after the maternity leave. I just hate how down the whole environment makes me feel. Sorry rant over. 💕 to all you great ladies on here. XxX
