How long before I can quit

I was a stay at home mum for 4 years before returning to work in January. The job I am doing is not working out and I want to look for a new one. But I'm worried about how it will look to future employers that I haven't been in this job for very long. What is the minimum time I should stay?

Look now. Some people will tell you six months or a year or some other figure is the minimum. Maybe some of those people are employers or hiring managers. Other people will look at it differently and think that recognising the job is not the right one for you and getting out as soon as you have a chance is a sensible decision- and some of those may be employers or hiring managers.
One of the worst mistakes I made was staying in and trying to make a go of a job I knew within weeks that I hated and wasn't right for. I wish I hadn't listened to everyone saying "you have to give it at least 6 months" and "less than a year looks bad on your CV". I love the job I have now and despite the days being longer and the actual work more challenging, it doesn't drain me in the way that a job I hated in a company I hated did.
