Credit check for job - worried

I have been offered a job in a bank call centre which is subject to a credit check. On the application form they asked if I had any CCJs, IVAs ir bankruptcy (I don't) and at the interview the manager said you would only fail it if you had been made bankrupt or had loads of debt you hadn't paid back.

I have a default on my credit file for an H&M account that I am now paying back - would this count against me ? I thought they only cared about CCJs but I'm so worried as don't want to hand in my notice at current job until I know for sure.

My friend said she had a default on her file and she passed a job credit check .

I had an extreme strict credit check recently. My manager told me to just be honest. Its civil service though, not banking.
If there is an option to write notes at the end put it in there.

Experian are offering a free month or Noddle or offer lifetime free so you can check your credit history.
Take a screenshot perhaps, print it out, send in with the application with a cover note explaining the default is being paid back.

Experian will show whether you have kept your debt on track or not.

I used to recruit for a bank. They just want to know that employees don't have huge financial issues or ongoing problems. A default should be okay and the credit check will show it's been repaid.

But don't hand in your notice until you have the formal job offer.

Thanks. I checked the application form and it just asked about CCJs and bankruptcy etc

Yeah I'm not making that mistake ! That would be awful I'd be too ashamed to try and take my notice back.

Get onto clearscore and see if there's anything there about the default. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine though!

I have been on Clearscore. The default is on there but I still have a decent credit score even with it on there.

Just need to wait and see
