Hi,

I work in a supermarket and there is one woman on the same department as me that messes around. Her mate works on another department but when managers are not around, she comes to ours too. They are always just being immature, throwing food at each other etc.

I've seen them get told off a few times but generally, like kids, do things when no managers around. They are not kids, late 20's/early 30's, I don't know how to deal with it, do I tell my manager?

Anyone had to deal with anything similar?

How is it affecting you? Are they bullying you?

They are not bullying, but its frustrating to be around. Grown woman acting like kids, and also dont want to be associated with that behaviour.
I think word has got back to my manager on some occasions of what they have been up to, but don't know if to tell her too, so she can deal with it.

This would boil my piss, there is a supermarket local to me where the staff are always messing around, loud and cluttering up the aisles where they put their trollies close together so they can talk while they do the shelves. Lots of giggling etc and the same on the checkouts. They are lovely and friendly but honestly, i feel like i am encroaching their party.

I am all for a bit of shenanigins at work every now and then, with the focus on the every now and then. It must be really irritating for you and i would be bringing it up - do you have an appraisal coming along soon at all?

This would annoy me too. And it has to affect the level of service your department delivers, even if you aren't involved. I would definitely tell your manager.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll have an appraisal sooner or later, so will discuss it.
As it turns out, they actually got sent to the office yesterday. One of them shouted something silly over the tannoy as they passed by on their way to the staff canteen. A nearby manager marched them upstairs.
Apparently one dared the other to do it, I find it amazing that two grown women can be so childish. I know at least one of them has a kid!
I'm told that a lady that works here knows the mum of one of the women, so I imagine she won't be impressed when she knows about her daughters behaviour.
