My child was ill at school and needed to be picked up. The nurse called my job and I informed my boss. When i picked up my child from school the nurse informed me that my boss called back to verify that my child was sick! I'm outraged! Can she do that?

I suppose there is nothing to stop her calling, but the school shouldn't give any pupil details out. What reason would your boss have to check on your time off - has it been an issue previously?

Sounds like a distinct lack of trust on your bosses part - is there a reason for that?

I don't think there's anything to stop them checking but I'm surprised that the school would tell them anything ' would kick up a fuss if they have divulged personal information.

I work for the school district also. This was the last day before the Christmas holiday. I always go to work whether I feel under the weather and even went to work the day after I had fractured my nose. I'm a single parent so I work as long as I'm able to walk. I don't cause trouble I just do my job. She has favorites and it's so blatantly clear. She's one of those bosses that will pick you apart in front of people if you do something wrong and will never praise you or say I know you were feeling under the weather thanks for coming in anyway.

Sounds like you'd be better looking for a new job if your working environment is like that as not sure what you can actually do about your boss. She sounds like a shit manager rather than doing anything you can challenge her on.
