We've had a turbulent couple of years with redundancies and our company took over a company which increased our department numbers three fold. The staff from that company had higher titles and a lot became the team leads and it felt like they took us over. Our head of dept remained running the department but an announcement has now said that her 'rival' will now run our dept. do you think my head of dept has marching orders or will leave? Spoke to her and she said she'll report into this 'rival' but has to incorporate yet another dept under our banner! I just can't believe we took over a company yet they are now in charge!

Perhaps the other company's boss wanted to retire or something but that company made more money or had lower costs, or for some other reason top management decided that the processes and practices from that company are the ones that you should now use.

I sympathise, it's awful to feel like you came from the "wrong side". Hope it starts to settle down soon. If your boss gets another dept, perhaps she is going to be a part of the new hierarchy for a while.
