I have been in my job for three months and have recently been made permanent. The company has merged with its sister company and as a result the guy who was doing the same role has been made redundant.
I just had a meeting where I was informed I would be taking on all his work. The new role was explained however when asked about pay I was told that it would be reviewed and if he could he would as I have made a great contribution but if he couldn't then he wouldn't and I would have to decide what I am going to do.
What is an appropriate response to him? Should I be asking for a pay rise? If so how much. I think he will offer either nothing and say deal with it or something very small.
Anyone have any advice?
