Can you teach an old dog new tricks ?

Hi ,Hope some of you can give me some advice ,for the past 31 yrs since I left school I have done the same job ,I recently have been offered a new job doing something different ,it has better hours , slightly better pay, no weekend work ,and less stressful ,so why do I feel terrified at the thought of learning something new .
I have wanted a job like this for years and now its came I feel so frightened ,its probably lack of confidence ,but don't know where that's came from ,so the question is Can you teach an old dog new tricks ? Thanks

For most of my working life I have done jobs that are considered minimum wage, though always worked my way up to supervisor roles.

I haven't worked for 14 years and am now 50 odd years old. I went for a TA job at my sons school last year and didn't get it because I lack expriance and don't have an A level. So I studied and gained an A level and while I was doing this the school asked if I could do a receptionist role as I had worked in a hotel reception. This was to cover sickness and was extended for quite a few months. Then they asked me to sort out the filing system and then do some admin work. After we came back from the summer they asked me to do one to one support in a classroom with a child as an LSA, as all of my children are SEN and I have experience dealing with them. I am taking additional training in my own time and they have just asked me to sign a contract rather than be temporary.

It can be done.
