Any tips for getting match fit for interviews

Not usually something I worry about but I'm not sure I acquitted myself very well today.

I've just had an interview for a role that would be amazing although it's in the wrong place, but it's worth the commute. It would be a great opportunity and I know that I can do it and have all the skills and experience they are looking for but I'm not sure that came across. I'm a fairly straight talker and not a fan of jargon I like people to understand what I'm talking about. I can usually turn it on but today was sadly lacking.

I need some inspiration, I'm feeling a little down as my role is being made redundant - second time in 2 years. I'm not exactly devastated but my confidence has taken a bit of a knock. (Yes I know it's the role not me but even so) Im quite good at hiding it but today I felt more than a bit vulnerable despite prepping and researching the company and the role. Not looking forward to calling the recruiter or the feedback Hmm

Has anyone got any advice/tips to get my mojo back?

You don't know the outcome yet. Your interviewer(s) might perceive things differently. You haven't said how/why you think you didn't do so well. Really wanting a job can certainly add to the pressure. If retrospectively you would have answered some of the questions differently, or used alternative/better examples to highlight skills, experience etc, it might be worth making notes for use at future interviews. Getting stuck into other applications might also help you to look forward and not back. Don't take it to heart or overthink it, though. Nobody interviews perfectly every time, and however an interview has gone, there's always some learning that can be utilised for the next time.

I always recommend reading Max Eggert's book 'The perfect interview' which offers really good advice on how to how to handle interviews and present yourself. There's also one on CVs which I've found invaluble as both a candidate and interviewer.

Thank you both for the encouragement and suggested reading.

I found out today that I've been asked back for final interview so perhaps I was being a little hard on myself after all Smile I think the fact that one of the interviewers looked a bit bored/distracted towards the end didn't help!

Just the small matter of a 20min strategy presentation to write now!

Just need to download. Presentation for my second interview on Monday is really stressing me out. I'm not overly nervous about presenting it (yet) just want to get it looking amazing and the content right. I keep second guessing myself, and jumping about too much need to focus and get it finished tonight. Having a quick break and then another hour and it should be done, said that this morning Smile

Nowhere near as painful an experience as I thought it would be. Presentation and interview went well, it's between me and one other and find out tomorrow Grin I think it will come downtown who they feel will
fit best with the existing team as recruiter says we have similar experience, excited and nervous at the same time.
