Going crazy stuck in dead end job :(

I have been stuck in my boring, full-time crap paid admin job for the last 6 years.
I am 'only' 28 and desperately want a change. I started a degree to be a teacher, but lack of confidence got me and never completed it, so I have maxed out student debt and bugger all to show for it.
I don't even know what career I would 'love' to do and never really have.
I have been on annual leave this week and the thought of going back to work is making me feel so down. I really do hate my job but feel I am stuck in a catch 22 situation.
Doesn't help that I'm a single parent so can't just quit and be supported by a partner while I work myself out. Just looking for any ideas or inspiration, or if anyone is in the same boat? Or maybe just to vent.

OK, baby steps. You have a job, and it's full-time. What opportunities could exist in your organisation for further development? Most places are happy to help people who want to learn more, expand their area of expertise, learn things outwith their usual remit etc.

Do you have annual reviews? If not, ask your line manager for one. Explain that you have more to offer than your current role allows. For all you know, your manager may have things they want to offload, which you could assist with, or they may know of someone else needing extra help. Do you know of any new projects coming up - could you ask for a secondment? Would they sponsor you to undertake some additional training? Is anybody coming up to retirement / heading for maternity leave - could you ask to shadow them to expand your knowledge? With any luck you could find yourself enjoying your job more and gain experience to help you move up or out.
